lol yea nintendo announced, games we expected, i don't see anything saving the wiiu, lol, people act like big third party games have been anounced, i didn't see any game that was above 360/ps3 graphics, and instead of yoshi's island which was rumored we got yoshi's epic yard which is a big meh.

I didn't like epic yarn either, so I understand what you're saying, but it's besides the point. There was an unexpected X game announced, that's megaton because Shin Megami Tensei is super cult in Japan iiuc.

Then, there's the new Monolith game.

And yes, there was a lot of doubt as to where all the games were, I lately made a thread on that, so this is anti-doom, especially when games that have previously sold in the 30million, 10 million copies each (3D Mario, 3D Zelda, Mario Kart).

To say this is not anti-doom is really really missing the point of being on a sales site. These games push consoles and thus sales. It's, by definition, anti-doom.

honestly  looking at sales, i don't think any of them will really save the wiiu, look at the wii sales now, it just launched with mario and its selling like crap so soon after launch, what makes you think these othere mario games will  sell systems when it not working now, the othere games you mentioned should give the wii u a good boost in japan by about 300,000 units but that about it.

There was literally no surprises from the Direct at all. We know the games are coming. Just not this year, which is worrying.

None? If you foresaw SMT x Fire Emblem, you are some kind of wizard.

I thought the Atlus and Intelligent Systems collaboration was a pretty huge surprise.

"SMT x FE!!!! (wow this was out of left field!)"

Really, no surprises? Tell me when you predicted that one (Nostradamus, is that you?), because I'd love to know! I would've bought my Wii U along time ago if you had told me about that.

We know nothing about this game. Again, there is nothing coming out this year that will increase sales drastically.

Some are not coming this year like the new Zelda Wii U most definetely you are right, but I think Nintendo will deliver 3D Mario and Mario Kart this year during christmas season much like they did to the 3DS that brought it back to life. Like Iwata said, they will be playable during E3 so they must be by then in their final stage no?

As a Nintendo fan I'm happy.

From a sales POV, I don't see this being as much of a home run though.

Nintendo seems really, really hesitant to really break away from the safety blanket of existing IP.

Everything looked like a straight forward sequel to remake of past titles, the only really "new" concept I saw in this presentation was the 2-player single Wii U tablet mini-games in Wii U Party, which has been done on the iPad already I think.

They need something new and fresh to break out if they want to sell systems in a real way, but they seem to want to stick to old formulas very closely. Platinum Games seems to be the only one bringing something really different and a bit unexpected (even Bayonetta 2 I guess feels "fresh" because you wouldn't expect it on a Nintendo platform).

That said .... if you do like core Nintendo IP, then Wii U looks fine for 2nd half 2013 onwards. But I think this will be a lot like a GameCube 2.

It doesn't matter whether we know anything about it, whether it will sell a lot or not. It's a megaton, and it's a surprise, basically nulling your post.

New Super Mario bros and Casual efforts are fatigued initiatives. They are not to be counted on for another 3 to 5 years mark my words.

Pfft. Who wants Mario Kart? It's not like it's Blur or anything...

Basically they've ruined their E3 show ^^

Some good announcements, though most of them were expected to come out soon anyway.

Also mark my words. If the new Mario Kart doesn't come with any hardware peripheral (even if it's just plastic) it will do MUCH worse than MK Wii (even if the WiiU gets a 100m userbase). The plastic wheel was the big reason why it was pirated much less in certain regions.
