Forums - Gaming - NINTENDO WIIU IS DOOMED HUH?

they showed a variety of games today at ND...
I never expected much but was blown away ...
It wasn' obvious at all that SBB will be shown at E3...
Or the Wind Waker HD remake... And what about the monolith game?? It looks very good...

PS4 and XBOX 720 won't have that popular variety of games as the Wii U will have...

So yes Nintendo is doomed... In a good way

According to pezus' prediction, it's going to be destroyed by PS3, not PS4.

I guess he is saying that Nintendo announcing games that were expected, 1 or 2 remakes from games that did not sell originally, games that did not sell the gamecube or Wii and still no solid releases for anything means the Wii U is no longer doomed.

Well to be completely fair, it shows how much sillier the doomcalling is, knowing full well that a new 3D Mario, Mario Kart and a new 3D Zelda will be released mid-cycle. Games that sell more than the PS3's top 10 (ignoring the 3rd party CoD).

To be fair though I think we have seen the same song and dance before.  Nintendo having all these titles coming mid stream is a nothing more than despriation moves and despriate nintendo can be iffy with their game quality.  Its good for gamers but well have to wait and see.  Iwata mentioned that the next zelda is still big budget (i.e. not learning anything from SS) and Nintendo games outselling the PS3 top ten doesnt matter, we had two generations where the same thing occured and the playstation still came out on top, by a fairly huge margin.

That's still two years mircosoft will never have in first place, only Sony will ever match Nintendo system sales.

Depends on the region, and globally depends on how each region performs.

Eh, Skyward Sword didn't sell that great and it sounds like the next proper Zelda is a long, long ways out.

3D Mario generally sells less than 2D Mario.

Mario Kart will help.

Nintendo seems allergic to new franchises though.

lol yea nintendo announced, games we expected, i don't see anything saving the wiiu, lol, people act like big third party games have been anounced, i didn't see any game that was above 360/ps3 graphics, and instead of yoshi's island which was rumored we got yoshi's epic yard which is a big meh.

I agree, most those annoucements were just expected sequels, so not sure what the excitment is all about. The best part for me was the end where he mentions a wiiu direct in the future for 3rd party games. This will show just how the future of wii u will pan out.

When did that happen? When did Mario Kart pre-Wii sell more than 30m? I last honestly can't remember. When did Zelda sell almost 9m copies (Twilight Princess, true shared with cube, but 6.7m extra sales on Wii when Cube already sold 1.5m?)

The low sales of SS aren't due to big budget. Sales of 2nd Zeldas on any plat always sell less (Majora's mask, TP on cube) and the swordfighting wasn't loved by all. The music is one of the most praised scores for a Nintendo game, after Galaxy.

What you could call "desperation" is WW HD, and that's because they are filling gaps during the waiting periods. But it isn't desperation, it's common sense, and Sony did it too with all its HD remasters.

And what of these announcements tells you they've been rushed? I don't have the same facts as you it seems like they are all landing after their expected development time, and Nintendo has become a much faster production house, better at re-using their talents instead of wasting effort re-inventing the wheel. I expect the next 3D Mario and 3D Zelda to be of utmost quality, same goes for the next Mario Kart and Smash bros.

Nintendo Direct! No one ever expected Mario, Mario Kart, and Zelda games would be in the works! BUT THEY ARE!

and a chance to rebuy VC games!

I didn't like epic yarn either, so I understand what you're saying, but it's besides the point. There was an unexpected X game announced, that's megaton because Shin Megami Tensei is super cult in Japan iiuc.

Then, there's the new Monolith game.

And yes, there was a lot of doubt as to where all the games were, I lately made a thread on that, so this is anti-doom, especially when games that have previously sold in the 30million, 10 million copies each (3D Mario, 3D Zelda, Mario Kart).

To say this is not anti-doom is really really missing the point of being on a sales site. These games push consoles and thus sales. It's, by definition, anti-doom.
