Yeah, but PS3 was doomed when it launched as well (although, doing a bit better than Wii U is doing right now), but they turned it around. At did anyone reallt forsee the success 360 has had?! Many things can, and will, change within a year or two.

yea but ps3 was 599$, i knew it would bounce back, i can't see the samething happining with the wiiu, i also think the ps brand is much stronger and has loyal fanbase.

And Nintendo DON'T have loyal fan base? They do, or else they wouldn't have made it through the GC era. And how big a fan base PS has remains to be seen. This last gen we saw a hellalot of ppl skipping PS in favor of 360. And the question about fan base really boils down to one point, and one point alone; exclusives. Because, why else buy one certain console? People bought PS1 because of all the awesome 3rd party exclusive, as was the case with PS2. But enter xbox360 and multiplats, and we see how ill equipped Sony is for a challande like that. No more 3rd party exclusives? Then the sales start to drop. Based on how much each console makers 1st party games sell I'd dare venture and say that Nintendo has the strongest following. Sony and MS is making money from the millions of gamers that don't care what system they play on, as long as they get the majority of kick ass games, and that's why 360 cut in really, really deep into the sales of PS3; because the majority of gamers don't care what system they get. They care about the games.
And I'm sure 3D Mario, Mario Kart, SSB4 and Zelda will sell a couple of Wii U's.

The reason 360 cut into the ps3 brand was because of price, it aso had inferior graphics for the first 3 years on mulitplatform games,360 also got a huge boost from kinect and even with all that ps3 is probably gonna outsell it, because the ps3 brand is sill strong. you say nintendo has a loyal fanbase, looking at these launch sales and post launch, they seem to be very little of them, we know 299$ is a very good price for a new console, it at this point so soon after launch its selling like a dead system.

So, then you agree that most PS buyers aren't loyalists? Because then they would have bought the PS3 anyways, no matter the price. Having a fan base means that those fans WILL buy your product, despite of the competition - and that clearly didn't happen for the PS3. No matter what arguments you bring forth, it all boils down to that 360 cut into the PS3 sales, for whatever reason, and this hurt the PS brand a lot.
And while you're bringing up high price, inferior graphics, and Kinect as reasons why PS3 didn't do too well, I'm just gonna say that the reason why Wii U isn't selling too well right now is the lack of games - and that is something Nintendo can do something about themselves.
