Forums - Gaming - NINTENDO WIIU IS DOOMED HUH?

Why spoil the surprise of them now?

I can think of a lot of reasons that aren't, "Nintendo has too many bombs to throw, that they're just doing this now and saving the real megatons for E3." Clearly Nintendo Direct is a big priority for them. It lets them talk to fans whenever they want, entirely on their own terms. It could be that they just don't care about E3 surprises anymore. None of the companies really seem to. It could also be that they're responding to customer disatisfaction with the Wii U's software by assuring people that these things are coming. Or that since the Wii U has launched now they don't intend to do separate Wii U and 3DS conferences this year, so they will have rather less stage time to spend on just Wii U.

With what we know they're already working on and the fact that they have two platforms to support, it just seems a stretch to expect much new for Wii U at E3. If they only show Mario Kart and Smash Bros. and then unveil, say, Retro's new game at the end, that's a very respectable showing that easily tops any of their recent E3 efforts. It would be loads better than any of Sony or especially Microsoft's over the past few years, too. I don't see any reason to expect more than that because, realistically, it will only lead to disappointment.

Never saw another Mario Kart, Zelda, Smash Brothers and Mario coming when Wii U was announced!

So you're going to go around making comments like these in all of todays WiiU threads?

Obviously most of the hype is for the new games announced/shown but you just keep looking for any way to shit on the whole thing.

Pathetic.

What's pathetic is making a thread in all caps about games that were known to be coming and freaking out about the unannounced Sony and Microsoft systems (except for the monolithsoft game which will be a niche seller).

You knew all those games were coming?

=O

Either you are a wizard or work at Nintendo.

And I was 'freaking out' over PS4 and 720? You sir must be delusional and imagining things that did not happen.

I bow my hat to you sir, the delusional wizard who secretly works at Nintendo. *Mock bow*

I love the hypocracy of all the hardcore spamming this topic with more doom and gloom talk of Wii U. I thought sales didn't matter guys? I never understood that, these guys pride themselves on being such rebels and liking niche games that don't sell. You'd think the hardcore would love the Wii U considering how unpopular it is, but when its Nintendo its different I guess..

Look, I'm not exactly a Wii U fan at the moment but some people are going waaaay overboard with the doom and gloom talk for a console that actually is shaping up to have a pretty solid library, especially with these recent announcements. Sales don't mean much to me anymore, just give me great games. Hell, I loved the Cube and it was a sales disaster. Only reason I really ever cared about sales in the Wii era was because I assumed then the third parties would follow the sales, but as we all know that didn't happen. So as long as Nintendo can profit, sales are meaningless at the end of the day.

No. It was 1.00 for rebuying nes games. 30cents for rental?

That's 1.00 if you haven't transfered it yet I understood. Not sure...

If you are not a Nintendo fan then i think the Nintendo Direct will be a Meh, it certainly is for me. Not sure why all the excitement to be honest, especially for yet another mario kart and a HD game. If this was Sony/Ms they would be getting a lot of flak to be honest.

Nintendo need to be working a lot harder on other users who are not Nintendo fans, and I dont think they are getting that yet. But they had better hurry up, because I am sure Sony/MS are sitting there thinking "wow, what an opportunity".

Okay, but they showed X, Wonderful 101 and Bayo, and revealed FE X Shin megami Tensei, so did those just not show up in your video?

I thought it was $1.00 for buying an Wiii U version of a Wii VC title that you've already transferred. He did say that the VC prices would be automatically adjusted if their service finds that you already have the Wii version of a title.

So you're basically paying an extra buck for the ability to play VC titles on the gamepad. That's what I got from it, anyhow.

Sequels to Mario 3d, Zelda, Smash Brothers, Mario Kart and Wii Fit? Yeah doesn't take a wizard to predict that. Surprising or new things were the Monolithsoft game (monster hunter clone with mechs, looks fun), Yoshi game (no interest), SMT/Fire Emblem game (interested to see more) and the one total surprise was an HD re-release of a Gamecube game which I didn't expect Nintendo to cash in on HD remakes of games this early in the Wii U lifespan.

Making a thread in all caps sounds like freaking out to me and you need more exclamation and question marks in the OP. Also if the Wii U isn't looking like it's doing bad then why claim this is the deliverance?

So before it was "lol, Mario Kart and Smash Bros, as if we weren't expecting that'

Now it's, 'Yeah, we didn't expect some of those games, so what?'

Gosh, people like you are exasperating.

Everyone else seemed to think this thread in great stride. Only you are acting all bitc...er foolish.

Word of advice, don't like a thread or think it's stupid? Just leave. You actually have that choice.

If it were Sony and MSFT, esp MSFT having 20 minutes directed @ First Party games, the thing will need to be on rerun after 5 minutes to fill out the time.

Oh yeah that's correct, but beyond that there's a 30th famicom anniversary that has a 30cents for 30 days for certain games, and that those games were deals were ongoing for current owners who haven't transfered them yet but it was so confusing I'm not sure anymore :)

What happened? Did I miss something? Did Nintendo announce F-Zero GX2?

I am surpised no one has responded to you. Well since you respond to my comments in Sony threads I will return the favour.

Most the presentation as you most likely know was their regular franchise sequals.

They did show a few suprises like partnerships with atlus and a couple new games. These games however clearly are targeteted at the nintendo loyal base.

It was evident that this WiiU direct was purely targeted at nintendo fans as he kept refering to the fact  to be patient as the mario games (SSBB, 3DMario and MK) Zeldas etcc are in procution to keep the fans happy.

The sad party is Nintendo sometimes listens to their fans too much rather than the whole gaming audience in general.

Personally as a Nintendo gamer from the NES days, I don't care about the marios and zeldas as I know they will come. When they do I will purchase them.

Nintendo fans need to be more vocal about the lack of good 3rd party support seen so far rather than were is my 100ths mario game.

To conclude, the best part of this Nintendo Direct for me was the fact he mentioned at the end that eventually their will be one dedicated to WiiU 3rd party support. I hope this one comes soon, within the next couple months. This will be the telling tale of whether the WiiU will be an Awesome system or whether it will be just another Nintendo games system.
