Why not? Mario Kart is a multiplayer game, so having a second wheel doesn't hurt.

Can't you use the WiiU pad as a rectangular wheel ?

that's what i said but I still think nintendo (unwisely perhaps) may make a peripheral to fit around the pad to make it more closely resemble a steering wheel. It may look stupid but I also thought the wii wheel was stupid...at least this one will be a bit larger (the wii wheel, I thought, felt too small when using it)...plus it will give nintendo the opportunity to reuse an earlier sales tactic as people wont be able to say they already have a wheel peripheral.

The last two entries would be NSMB2 in August 2012 and NSMB Wii in November 2009. I can see how NSMBU released close to NSMB2, but not to NSMBW. Okay, you were saying that the U didn't have a good buildup and I agreed. I don't think the DS had so much going for it by 2006 either. Actually, I bought my DS Lite with NSMB, it was a system seller for me. Back then, I only bought that and FFIV GBA. I'm not saying the DS was barren, but it had a weak buildup up until I think it was mid-2005 when Nintendogs came out. Contrasting NSMB's system-selling quality on the DS to NSMBU, I personally think NSMB lost its system-seller quality a while ago.

About cannibalization, I agree that in some cases releasing two games in a series together (home + HH) can give a solid 1-2 punch, but in this case it's too many too often it leads to cannibalization, as much as a Kart U would have been cannibalized by MK7 (too much too soon), also compounded by the success of the predecessors (MKWii and NSMBWii respectively).

I also agree that 360 is a high-price for even NSMB to push, even MK. So I agree and disagree with you.

The fact that 3D Mario and Mario Kart will be *playable* at this year's E3 suggests to me that they easily could be Holiday 2013 titles. I'm assuming 3D Mario and Mario Kart are Holiday '13, Super Smash Brothers Wii U at some point in 2014, and, yeah, Zelda's probably not until Holiday '14 or 2015.

That red X reminds me of Xenogears more than Xenoblade... Also, there were mechs like in Xenogears...

anyway, You can't please the doubters/sony/microsoft fanboys, so why bother? It was a solid Direct for us Nintendo guys, and most of all, the GAMES are coming. I just might want to get a Wii U this holiday...

Nintendo usually never goes for megatons at E3 so I don't understand why you think they will have one to keep quiet for E3. Secondly, maybe they wanted to use these announcements for E3 but the hype surrounding the Wii U is lackluster right now they wanted to put out some good publicity.
