Forums - Movies & TV - Who makes the best Asian movies?

China. Ip Man.

Ongoing bet with think-man: He wins if MH4 releases in any shape or form on PSV in 2013, I win if it doesn't.

I like Chan-wook Park and his 2003 classic Old Boy. So I vote South Korea.

Japan is pretty good with movies like Battle Royale, and 13 Assassin's. Pretty twisted, and violent.

However Hong Kong does make good action movies, I really liked Hard Boiled.

I guess China is the only one I'm not a huge fan of. Their movies are really cheezy.

Indian movies are also in Asia...

True.

But being that I'm from Hawaii, for most people here, when you say "asian", most people think chinese, japanese, korean, Vietnamese, etc.

But yeah, technically, Indians are Asian, south asian.

But hey, in my original post, I did say "in the far east...."  so that would be china, japan, etc.

japan.. their animated movies is enough reason...

China (Wong Kar Wai)

then comes hong kong, south korea follow by japan.

best trilogy of all Asian movies is ..A Chinese Ghost Story :))

coolest Movie is probably Fallen Angels(Wong Kar Wai) a must watch

if anyone has any questions about asian movies just ask me I know them all :D

I was hoping this was about drama series. Tch.

I don't care anything about all this martial arts stuff, I'd rather see beautiful women plotting different ways to get revenge.

Everybody is different in preference, of course.

But to me martial arts is what got Westerners interested in the Far East.  I mean Bruce Lee was a gigantic influence in pop culture, even in the West.  I mean, even until this day, everyone around the world knows who Bruce Lee is.  I think he's up there with Michael Jackson in terms of name recognition around the world.  I remember watching a documentary on the History channel about Bruce Lee and how he had such a huge global influence.

I did a paperwork on Hong Kong cinema. Today Hong Kong and China could easily be considered one as a whole. Out of all these Hong Kong had the most influence in the film industry, having named stars and directors.

Bet with gooch_destroyer, he wins if FFX and FFX-2 will be at $40 each for the vita. I win if it dont

s korea is drama
china is martial arts
japan is horror and anime and samurai

actually each one is the best in their game, world wide.

the only thing hollywood is better at is CGI effects

Hong Kong for me. John Woo and Wong Kar Wai are master film makers.

The only Asian films I can think of off the top of my head are Ip Man and the Bruce Lee films, so I would say China too.
