@Jay, gotcha, but that doesn't change my opinion. If I dug hard enough I could probably find people saying that the Vita (or any other console) will outsell all other consoles combined this Christmas.

Personally, I like my vita a lot. But given its current sales it is difficult to see how it will retain 3rd party development support going forward, and even more importantly how will Sony justify continued investment for future handheld standalone gaming devices?

There were a lot of huge deals on Vita for Black Friday, and here in Canada I am seeing the same for Boxing Day. But, if it can't even get to 5,000,000 world wide after its first year full year of existence (in February-ish) it will end up on the list of handheld flops...

He's not the only one who was making some silly predictions in that thread.  Here's a few:

Conegamer - "WiiU will easily sell around a mil a week though, so 5mil at year end."

spurgeonryan - "This sounds like my prediction from a month ago. So I will agree with you!"

Mr Kahn - "Oh, i have no doubt that Wii U will be sold out through the end of the year..." (to be fair, he didn't think it could out sell the Vita LTD)

RolStoppable - "I don't see it happening, because of supply issues."

BasilZero - "+1 to OP, I think it will outsell it too~.  Hell, I think it'll have double the sales of the Vita at the end of year."

Because it was a list of silly predictions from that thread.  You did predict that the Wii U wouldn't outsell it LTD, however, you stated it was only because of supply issues.  Well, supply is not an issue for the Wii U, but it still isn't going to outell the Vita LTD.

Vita has long since passed the point of no return.  Sony should have cut price in the autumn and they refused...huge mistake.  They should have learned from 3DS.  Price cut + holiday lineup leads to explosive sales.  No price cut and a weak holiday lineup leads to mediocre holiday sales.

I don't "defend Vita". I just have a problem with people who keep trashing it and don't get moderated for it.
BTW, if you don't think a system is great, you would never get it in the first place.

If it wasn't for that awesome deal on Black Friday and Playstation Plus, I wouldn't have gotten one this year.

At the OT:  People expect new products to sell well in their first holidays.

To everybody else saying that nobody was predicting this, their was a lot of people predicting the WiiU to outsell everything this year.  They can't even ship that many WiiU's.  They said they want to sell 5.5m WiiU's this fiscal year which i think ends in March?  Correct me if I'm wrong so people who predicted the WiiU to outsell everything was being ridiculous just like another so called game this year that people predicted 3-5m sold but sold poorly, although I won't mention it's name ;) At least the WiiU is selling well :)

Nah, sales keep increasing with every week. I don't call that "passed the point of no return".

BTW, Vita's holiday lineup wasn't that great this year as you pointed out, so a price cut so early would only be a temporary boost and then it would go back to selling horribly. We'll be lucky if Vita gets a cut next year though. It obviously needs one, but its up to Sony to decide if the sales increase of Vita is worth the cut into profits.
