Indeed. But, someone said this happened every two weeks or so, so this week they should update. |

Awesome.

What if they don't get updated? What then?

My prediction threads:

Mutiny.
Halo 4 sells 49k in the UK this week... It sold 54k last week. Great hold! Next week sales will increase.
It also sold 10k in Germany, which is only 2k less than last week. Sales will increase there next week too

Not too unexpected really. As with the Vita, it will be after the holidays when supply (if it is an issue) is resolved when we will see for certain the future of the sustem.

Marketing probably. I'm constantly bombarded by PS3 and PSV ads on UK TV. Also, WONDERBOOK!

It's just that people were saying the demand would mostly come from Germany+France. Regarding USA Wii U sales this week: Why did they go down so much? Have they not shipped more units? They must really be struggling with shipping if it goes down that much in USA + sells only 50% of Wii's FW in Europe. |
I don't recall people saying this. I was also under the illusion (think I read somewhere, will look for a source) that the WiiU had an initial shipment in Europe of 200k. As such, it's nearly a 90% sell-through so that's the reason for that. Though I don't believe that's true, and would expect closer to 250k for the shipment.
As for the US? Everything went down very sharply. Remember the first week had its launch AND Black Friday, so sales were always like to hit around 150k (which was my US prediction and 350k WW for the week, next week will be around 550k WW I reckon). I do believe supply is still a factor, but not so big. It just seems the demand isn't there, but that's advertising. I had an hour free so went to the main GAME store in my local town (one of the biggest cities in the UK). Numerous people came in, and 8 went over to try out the WiiU. Most of them had never heard of the device but really enjoyed the demo, and 5 of them left with the system. A 6th attempted to but at this point they were sold out, but with a new shipment coming Monday/Early next week, and so I left as well.
So the system is selling, when people know what it is. It's the advertising which is lacking. You know, all of those people (pretty much) wished to know what is was, and the only one who did know thought it was a new controller for the Wii, and you could play Wii games and Wii games only on the screen.
I apologise for this anecdote, and obviously this highly localised case can not be extrapolated or even used as a reason for the numbers. But the underlying issue is not the fact the system has no games it would seem (as the attach rate in the UK is almost exactly 2:1, excluding digital sales), but the advertising. Get that sorted and the system should be set for a solid future.

This is the closest it will get now until January as the US sales will be stronger in December than Europe. I expect we are looking at a 2.5 million gap mid January before adjustments at the end of the quarter. Great sales by the PS3 to keep on the 360's tail, it should take the year comfortably now.
