The vita will be discontinued by Jan 2014. Anyone wanna make a sig bet?



My prediction threads:

Wii U will sell under 40m units (made on 14th September 2012)

PS Vita will sell under 20m units (made on 30th September 2012)

Wii U will sell under 7m in 2013 - I was right

Halo 4 first 9 weeks sales prediction

PS4 to be down YOY in 2015

Its to big of an investment, for them to simply walk away. I doubt that Sony is loosing money on the Vita at the moment, so no harm is done for trying a couple of things.

Im still fairly optimistic that it will get plenty of quality software and decent hardware sales during its lifetime

Sony is probably making money. The BoM is low and shipping to retails and retail cut should still leave them some money. They're bringing tons of money with the expensive memory cards.

Sony was doing much better before they entered the hand-held market they should leave it before it's to late and focus on the living room.

that's a reach.. but I can see where ur coming from.. from a distant far away view point

It is very difficult when you aren't promoting enough.. and launching at such a high price for something that isn't a smartphone.. but we'll see.. PSN will more than likely be the major driving force for vita sales in the future.. as sony starts really pushing PSN on the device..

I'm still waiting for Bioshock Vita, Sony. You promised! I didn't buy this thing to buy games from smaller dev teams, I want AAAAAA OLED Open World 3D qHD games on this thing.

Well, I'm not gonna give them a medal for stating the obvious.


The Vita is in big trouble, and at this point I would be surprised if they manage to turn this around. I sincerely hope that they do though. Everyone benefits from more competition.
