Yes, Sony needs more of the smaller games, because that's what people buy a dedicated gaming handheld for.

People don't seem to want PS3 on the go either.

What do people buy a dedicated hand held for? Pokemon of course. But that's a Nitendo property so Sony is poked.

And you get the stupid pokemon radar game on the 3DS that compliment a DS game, rather than an actual full fledge Pokemon 3DS game.

As far as what Yoshida actually said, that's pretty interesting. I'd like to see if they're able to get more smaller developers on board. The big boys have so much going on, especially with the next generation of consoles coming.

But smaller developers don't need the hardware power of the Vita. And this is the only big feature which difference Vita from 3DS. I don't think that people who bought that Vita want "small" games. And people who are pleased with small games will buy the 3DS.

I don't think the Vita has a market that is big enough to help it survive. Many people are already disappointed of Vita because they expected console like graphics (driven durch the markteing slogans) but until now even Vita-Uncharted graphics are far from PS3 standards. The big Vita games like Uncharted or Assassins Creed only use half screen resolution (about the resolution of the 3DS top screen!) and don't look that impressive at all.

On the other hand there are people impressed with 3DS games like RE: Revelations because they look surprisingly good and they don't expected that from a Nintendo handheld.

More ground up games, they will win the core gamers over. They need known system sellers which also need to do very well in terms of critical reception(i.e getting 9/10). I'm talking franchises like Final Fantasy, GT and Grand Theft Auto and then of course entirely new experiences too. The argument of mobile games stealing resources is dated, how come the 3DS is selling so well? I don't believe its audience is just children, so It would mean its winning gamers over with its price+games.

If Persona 4 out sales AC:3 and COD it might tell Sony something.

looool, I really hope it does happen. RPGs will be the saving grace of the Vita.

Man it sucks about the sales! but I still don't regret buying it just wish sales would pick up a little :/

When the Wii and DS were new, I remember reading interviews from Nintendo where they talked about keeping development costs low (and ensuring that small developers could be sucessful) was one of the core reasons they used the hardware they did. At the same time I remember a Sony executive saying something along the lines of 'If developers can't afford to make visually impressive games for the PS3 they can always make PS2 games' ...

Small developers can have a large impact on a platform but they have a low success rate so you need a lot of them, trying to attract them after the platform is struggling isn't going to work well, and it will be years until those Sony does attract are able to release anything. In other words, Sony's on the right tract they're just 36 months too late for the PS-Vita.

"this always worried me when I saw Jack Tretton insisting that sales were "in line with expectations", because it gave me the impression that they didn't want to do anything to change current levels of sales. "

This. I was also worried that Sony did nothing about this problem. Someone seems to have finally woken up and decided to face the problems.

Remember, the first step to solving a problem is admitting it.

We need moar Zelda, now!

We need moar Unchartedzz!

We need less DLCs.

These dumb sony vita articles about selling issues are getting old. Wait until the holidays are over and then discuss this issue. Sony is spending 50 mil on marketing for vita. Wait until january and the hard numbers are in to talk about this subject.

No one gave the 3DS the same benefit of the doubt last summer.  And since a Sony rep sparked the conversation, I don't see any harm in discussing it really.

Hmmmm... so they'll just discard "console quality on a handheld" already?  Or do we have an internal rift in terms of what direction they should take with their portable...
