Forums - Nintendo - Forget about the competition! Nintendo is killing ITSELF.

I think it is amazing that no matter how much Nintendo does wrong by us. Everyone still defends them to the end. No matter what. There is no denying the fact that for the last two years Nintendo has more or less not supported any one of their systems other than putting out an enormous amount of Mario games. FACT!

People buy Nintendo for their games. Yet all we get is Mario 5 times a year. Get ready for some more Mario this Christmas with Paper Mario again!

I know I was a little overboard with some of the OP, but come on. Nintendo is just giving us the run around. If they truly thought that shovel ware was the way of the future they would support it again like they did on the Wii. Meanwhile great indy games would get trampled yet again under all of the shovelware. When Miyamoto finally retires there will be a lot of problems in the Magic Kingdom!

These are tough times for Nintendo, they need to secure the user base now to avoid big troubles in the future - look at Vita and portable market in general. That's why they're using their big guns more now. To secure a "safe path" for future games.

But 2 things... I love how every mario game is the same - Paper Mario, an RPG that's been in production for over 2 years (it was shown when the 3DS was revealed... is the same as New Super Mario Bros.

It's Mario, it's the same... well, it's not. I, personally don't even consider them the same franchise. Mario Tennis, Mario Kart... all "Marios", but not.

Second... try Scribblenauts Unlimited, Kingdom Hearts DDD, Code of Princess, Epic Mickey, Professor Layton, Brain Age - probably all solid games (there's also Pokemon BW2 on the DS and unknown games like Unchain Blades, Virtue's Last Reward or Harvest Moon) ... it's not a fantastic holiday line-up, I agree, but it's not shameful either.  It happened mostly due to delays, imo, since Luigi's Mansion, Animal Crossing and Castlevania were all slated for a 2012 releases. Next year, they should all appear pretty soon, joined by Fire Emblem, Monster Hunter, Lego Underground.  Plus, for real Nintendo fans there's also Wii U, which will take a lot of those holiday gaming hours.

"For all you Europeans out there an ounce is an American Measurement."

Don't be silly! Where do you think American Measurements came from?

“It appeared that there had even been demonstrations to thank Big Brother for raising the chocolate ration to twenty grams a week. And only yesterday, he reflected, it had been announced that the ration was to be reduced to twenty grams a week. Was it possible that they could swallow that, after only twenty-four hours? Yes, they swallowed it.”

- George Orwell, ‘1984’

NSMB2's DLC was announced before the game came out :P. And you missed Kingdom Hearts, not on par with Birth by Sleep but still pretty fun to play.

Why don't you make like a tree and get out of here?

Nice joke thread Ryan

Or, DLC = MOAR GAMING AWESOMENESS, it's mostly fan service imho, and also money-rendering as well.

Nintendo releasing DLC means very little. So far what I've seen is that the DLC isn't really necessary at all to beat the game or to understand it better. Also, the 3DS has more than Mario. It has some other 1st party titles, and some 3rd party titles that look quite good as well. There aren't just games that are "coming out soon" or whatever. We have a nice Resident Evil game, a revived Kid Icarus title, Tales of the Abyss port (that many people didn't or couldn't get their hands on for the original), some well-made remakes/upgraded ports, there's a kingdom hearts game, theatrhythm final fantasy, and a good handful more. There's just as much that's about to come out as well scheduled for release within the next year.
Also, to understand region-lock, you have to understand that it is done for a reason. Region-locking is mostly done for anti-piracy and child protection/parental locks.

For sure :3 But keep in mind, levels don't make themselves. Check out the latest Nintendo Direct, the new content looks rich.
