Forums - Nintendo - Forget about the competition! Nintendo is killing ITSELF.

The DLC will do nothing but good for both gamers and Nintendo (assuming that Nintendo keeps their promise of only letting DLC being additional content, rather than content removed from the original that you then will need to pay for).

Gamers will get more replay value from their games and Nintendo will get more money. Only positive things in my opinion. Heck, if Super Mario 3D Land got some DLC levels I might actually consider replaying it for the first time in months. New levels for Mario Kart 7 would also be nice, but Nintendo seems pretty stubborn with this "only 16 new levels per entry"-policy, so I wouldn't bet in it.

As for your other points, I guess their validity depends on who you are asking. Personally, I don't care about any of them.

New Super Mario Bros 2 is the Mario game with most levels ever (80+), so it's not like this DLC is taking away from the game.

But one thing I don't like... it's 200 yen (2 dollars) in japan, but in america it'll probably be 1.99.
All fine, except when we compare the price of the game

4800 yen = 61 dollars, not 39.99. DLC should follow the same price convertion, but I really doubt they'll charge 99 cents.

No man, no... you have try to make points but it seems like you got this thread out of your arse, sorry.

1) DLC on a Mario game? - Other companies make DLC, they killed themselves too? specially when nintendo already delivered you the finished product, they are not offering something necesary it just an agregate, it's a ''harmless'' DLC, you can continue to live with you NSMB2 because that was a full game, oh you want a new coin rush pack? pay $1, you don't? what's the problem then? they gave you a full fledged New Super Mario Bros game, wether you found it particulary ''spectacualr'' or not does not change the fact that it's a full NSMB game that it's good by his own right.

2) Really? - That is supposed to happen, of course that there will be no games nintendo is working on the Wii U! the generation is ending it's common sense yet in 2011 you got MW3, Kirby's return to dreamland, Skyward sword, Madden, Conduit 2, Lost in shadows, de blob 2, mario sports mix, WWE all stars, virtua tennis 4, trackmania... when there is supposed to be NO GAMES for the console because all devs are busy with the Wii U, and even so, this year you have Kirby's dream collection, Lego Batman 2, Xenoblade and The last story (for us non european/asian), Epic Mickey 2, Pokepark 2, NBA 2k 13, Pro Evo 13, WWE 13, Rhythm heaven, Mario Party 9, Lego Lotr, It doesn't matter if those games appeal to you or not, the games are there and that's a fact.

As for the 3DS there you have OOT 3D, Samurai Warriors, Tekken 3D, Super Street Figther IV, RE Mercenaries, RE Revelations, Shinobi, Heroes of Ruin, Fifa, Ridge Racer, NSMB 2, Dead or Alive, Mario Tennis, Mario Kart, Devil Survivor: Overclocked, Kid Icarus Uprising, Rhythm thief, Tales of the Abyss, Super Mario 3D Land, Metal Gear Solid, Kingdom Hearts Dream Drop Distance, upcoming? Monster Hunter 3g, Animal Crossing, Professor Layton, Phoenix Wright, Code of Princess, Virtue's Last Reward, Unchain Blades Exxiv,Professor Layton VS Ace Attorney, Pokemon Mystery Dungeon, Bravely Default: Flying Fairy, Adventure Time, Paper Mario, Epic Mickey the power of illusion, Harmo Knigth, Sonic Racing Transformed, Shin Megami Tensei 4, ignoring the ones we are not sure if will come out of Japan... It's not that hard.

3) Region lock it's something most of us agree on, but... here in south america AKA Piracy's Heaven, you can find flash cards (DS) everywhere, you can find Pirated Blu-Rays (PS3 games and Movies) at any store for 10% the price of the original copies (Ps3 games cost 700/900 Local currency, pirated ones cost 60/80), HERE i have yet to see a pirated 3DS game, i'm not in favor of region locking but i have to admit that nintendo's actions ,at least so far, have been effective so i don't know...

As for localization it's very simple, japanese games don't sell outside of Japan period -- Yeah i know there are exeptions but companies just preffer not to take the risk, we have to put ourselves in their shoes, when we talk bigger companies like capcom one would think there's no excuse but you wouldn't send you game to fail aand with Xenoblade and the last story i keep thinking that this was nintendo's plan the whole time, they were coming anyway. I still hate all of this localization problems though.

I can't stop thinking you made this thread just for the lolz.

Why is DLC for the Mario game a bad thing? I guess I missed something.

Its not on disc already is it?
Its not clearly main game stuff that was just left out is it?

Oh, so its just new content? Meh this thread is sensationalism.

Region Locking has existed on ALL Nintendo home consoles. It shouldn't be any surprise nor is it a big deal to the mass consumer. Just some crazy niche group who likes games in other languages.

I can maybe see your point with #2, I dunno (tl;dr properly)

The title of #1 is a good thing imo, and #3 isn't a big deal, just annoying... The actual paragraph of #1 could be considered bad if it were true.

I agree with point 2. Yesterday I was shopping on XBLA, and I was amazed at how much content I could enjoy. Can't say the same for Nintendo. I'm thinking this will all be rectified with the U.

If it looks like a Rol thread, smells like a Rol thread but there is no Rol in sight, is it still a Rol thread?

The rEVOLution is not being televised

1. DLC on a Mario game.

2. The taste they have left in some gamers mouths.

3.  Localization and Region lock.

1. Don't like the new Mario game, don't buy it. Don't like Nintendo "holding you up" for DLC, don't buy the DLC. It's a full game without it. Nintendo didn't pull a Capcom and lock out half the game's stages.

2. Can't speak for others but that is not the case for me. Zelda fans are dumb, you shouldn't listen to them. They're the pickiest fanbase in the whole industry. They find dozens of flaws with EVERY new game, and two years later it's THE BEST GAME EVRRR.

3. That's not how localization works. The only 3DS game Nintendo hasn't localized yet is Fire Emblem, and it's coming. Animal Crossing is coming, too. They don't have any control over Monster Hunter (also coming), Harvest Moon (also also coming), Rune Factory (probably coming too), or the rest of the third party titles. Geez.
