Forums - Nintendo - Forget about the competition! Nintendo is killing ITSELF.

Atleast Nintendo release a Full game at release...and if we want more we apy for it.. not like the others were they demand us to pay more for the full game. (just look at ME3 for example)

If it isn't turnbased it isn't worth playing   (mostly)

And shepherds we shall be,

For Thee, my Lord, for Thee. Power hath descended forth from Thy hand, That our feet may swiftly carry out Thy command. So we shall flow a river forth to Thee And teeming with souls shall it ever be. In Nomine Patris, et Filii, et Spiritūs Sancti. -----The Boondock Saints

DLC: If they DLC is always new playable content aka new levels, missions, tracks, etc then fine. I know some people might not like DLC at all, but a few missions after you beat a game are always welcome IMO.

I am a Nintendo-only gamer and I dont feel tired of the mario games, 3dland is amazing and while NSMB2 is not the best game ever, I liked it vey much. And while there are several japanese games only announced there, that doesnt really mean we will never get them. I am sure FF Bravery default, project x, megaten 4 and many others are coming eventually.

The region lock thing is not very valid IMO. Yes, there are some nice japanese only games, but the problem there is that unless you know some japanese I dont see the point of importing games. I did buy Love plus, sigma harmonics, a few taiko games between others, I enjoyed some those games but it is not the same.

I'll give you some credit on the region lock thing just because of pandoras tower & another code R...

You again. Didn't we already have this conversation in that other 3DS = PSP thread?

Point 3: The Vita supporters say the same thing. They are coming! But when is this coming exactly?

Me again!

First of all, did you really just compare the 3DS to the Vita? Really? Second, dunno why you're asking me when exactly the games are coming, you can easily look up the release windows of most of them on wikipedia.

Professor Layton: this October

Harvest Moon: this November

Luigi's Mansion: first quarter of 2013

Castlevania: likely first quarter of 2013

Monster Hunter: March 2013

Animal Crossing: first half of 2013

The only one we don't have a clear window for is Fire Emblem. Though I think they said next year. So it's coming in 2013.

Microsoft left a bad taste in my mouth with a console going 2 - 3 years with high failure rates. Then the failure rates still existed. Ps3 itself is not exempt from this complaint. 360 most notably though has the highest failure rates of any console I've ever played. I didn't even think it was possible to go through 5 of the same system over the course of a generation.

Wii still works fine. Its been a slow year for wii but it gave me time to look through and find some games I overlooked over it's course. Learnt never to trust microsoft again though. Never buying a system in the first two years from them again.

One more thing to complete my year = senran kagura localization =D

Actually, looking back at it, 2006 was a bad year for the DS, and it, like 2012 for the 3DS, was the second proper year for the system. I predict 2013 will trump 2011 and 2012 on the 3DS.

*looks at games collection, sees six games from 2011 and two games from 2012 with two more to add, if things go well*

That's a ballsy prediction.

Well, I think history backs me up. And it's about time I made a positive prediction about the 3DS's future. Remember my estimates for NSMB2? I hope not!

I disagree about 2012 being a bad year for the 3DS. People are too quick to overlook the many solid first and third-party eShop games that have been released, and it pains me to see how people have largely ignored Theatrythm Final Fantasy. Also, we still have Paper Mario, Professor Layton, Epic Mickey, Scribblenauts, and Zero Escape to look forward to before 2013. This is a fine year in my eyes, if only for the quantity of worthwhile small releases.

First time i startet mario kart wii.. (1. day it went online) there was a strange japanes test "extra tracks download" and then it desapers.. very starnge.. :)

But that's my point.. 16 New courses for mariokart wii.. could be very nice.. As long as it's only true extras, and not some as was missing in the orginal game. And think about it.. a 10 dollar download for 16 new mk wii courses.. in hd.. and upad support... Thats insane.

And wait stop.. :) wassent that one of the things nintendo said when they startet talking about it.. yes.. Nintendo have said.. that they will do dlc.. "nintendo way" and offering true new things..

(not like apple.. and in some ways ms and sony)

What did you expect? Final Fantasy is very disappointing. What does that tell us? Has the casual market moved on?

I am less than thrilled with the rest of the line up that you have post above. Does anyone other than us actually know what Zero Escape is? Will Scribblenauts be different than the other scribblenaut games? Professor layton and Mario. Only games to really look forward to imo. They had to throw Mario at us early to help with Sales until the Holidays or it would have been released this Christmas.

The line up I posted is made up of quality games from quality developers (and I even forgot Adventure Time). Scribblenauts (which if you actually research, you'll see some major changes) and Epic Mickey should sell well if only because of their branding. Both are million-selling franchises. I'm personally really excited for Scribblenauts as it will be one of the first 3DS games to make a huge push for user-generated content. And Epic Mickey, while not my thing, is being developed by DreamRift so I have little doubt about its quality.

Zero Escape will be an interesting game to watch. It's gotten more press than its acclaimed predecessor (999) at this point, and preorders are apparently doing quite well (but it's the special edition version). The question is whether the 999 fanbase has followed it to the 3DS, and if it can find more gamers willing to try out what is, essentially, the hottest "visual novel" series releasing in North America (and Europe now I think, which I hope will help it surpass 999). It's safe to call it a niche title, but it will be a good niche title. The kind of game the DS had in spades, so it's definitely not unimportant in that regard.

Good games are coming. But you seem only concerned with big first-party titles. I believe that, like the DS, the 3DS needs a mix of both huge sellers and niche titles.

I dunno about everyone else, but my 3DS has seen more playtime than any other console I own this year. Kid Icarus Uprising is my favorite game of the year. Kingdom Hearts 3D was a strong entry for the franchise. Final Fantasy is a really great little rhythm game. Sure it's not setting sales records, but it was clearly going to be a niche title. Resident Evil Revelations is the best the franchise has been in a long time, and NSMB2 is a quality platformer. Epic Mickey has potential to be great, Mario Sticker Star should continue the tradition of awesome Mario RPG games, Art Academy has million seller potential and is the kind of game that was sorely lacking on the 3DS, Super Scribblenauts will build on the successful formula, Professor Layton should be great. I've enjoyed my 3DS alot this year, and I plan on enjoying it a lot more.
