What did you expect? Final Fantasy is very disappointing. What does that tell us? Has the casual market moved on?
I am less than thrilled with the rest of the line up that you have post above. Does anyone other than us actually know what Zero Escape is? Will Scribblenauts be different than the other scribblenaut games? Professor layton and Mario. Only games to really look forward to imo. They had to throw Mario at us early to help with Sales until the Holidays or it would have been released this Christmas. |
The line up I posted is made up of quality games from quality developers (and I even forgot Adventure Time). Scribblenauts (which if you actually research, you'll see some major changes) and Epic Mickey should sell well if only because of their branding. Both are million-selling franchises. I'm personally really excited for Scribblenauts as it will be one of the first 3DS games to make a huge push for user-generated content. And Epic Mickey, while not my thing, is being developed by DreamRift so I have little doubt about its quality.
Zero Escape will be an interesting game to watch. It's gotten more press than its acclaimed predecessor (999) at this point, and preorders are apparently doing quite well (but it's the special edition version). The question is whether the 999 fanbase has followed it to the 3DS, and if it can find more gamers willing to try out what is, essentially, the hottest "visual novel" series releasing in North America (and Europe now I think, which I hope will help it surpass 999). It's safe to call it a niche title, but it will be a good niche title. The kind of game the DS had in spades, so it's definitely not unimportant in that regard.
Good games are coming. But you seem only concerned with big first-party titles. I believe that, like the DS, the 3DS needs a mix of both huge sellers and niche titles.
