Hum... no. The common consumers don't choose their cell phones based on OS knowledge. They do it mostly based on the size of their wallets.

Also, the iPhone has been the most successful single model phone.  But of course there's a lot more Android phones sold every years.  There are hundreds of models, for all kind of budget.  You seem to have the idea that the average Joe is buying an OS before buying a phone based on his budget, or service provider. You couldn't be more wrong.

Actually  most consumers (which are idiots like most humans are)  choose their phone base on how popular it is,  how present it is in the media and how they can increase their social status with it.

Yeah... because the Galaxy Ace is everywhere in the media! Yet it's still selling quite a lot here. ¬_¬
Same goes for any LG phones.

Really... You shouldn't take what you see on the tech and specialized websites as indications for what sells most to the unaware average Joe.

It sells because it has GALAXY in its name.  Guess why the Wave  is selling less or Samsung Star or whatever.

Samsung is present thats why Samsung phones sell   Samsung Galaxy is even more present.  ACE  was chosen because people might mix up S with ACE so they can also sell a less pricey phone to the masses.
The Galaxy Y also sells well because  SAMSUNG and GALAXY but not as good as the ACE because  Y is clearly different from S.

LG is also very present and has alot of adds compared to HTC etc.

Where did I say I took what I saw on tech sites?  I talk about what I see on the streets  newspapers magazines and TV or radio   because thats the main source of influence.

Plus I earn my money with ads (for some company like walmart)  and me and a friend constantly talk about ads how easy it is to influence people etc (he works for an agency that makes ads and viral campaigns for Volkswagen etc)

People usually buy stuff because they had a product of the same company before   because of ads  or because of word of mouth. Sure some people buy stuff because they invest time to find out whats the best  but they are the minority. (Before I started to make ads I was working  in the electonics department of several stores as part timer.)

Looks similiar to sega attacking the ps2

I really love this , Its not really hurting anyone, just childish quirky humor.

yeah i personally love adverts like this, they are just so funny. This are the type of adverts I remember

Have you seen how riled  up people in here get about this shit though? They want to lynch random journalists for 'having doubts' about the Wii U, they'd go bonkers over anyone making an advert like this today.

Samsung do what appltendont.... wait that doesn't work dammit. well I guess the best one for samsung is their selling something which apple got money for being too close a copy of their product except its about 100euros cheaper at least :D why not get the copy right infringing cheaper version?

Why not check me out on youtube and help me on the way to 2k subs over at www.youtube.com/stormcloudlive

Sad really, just pathetic gaming nerds some people are. I mean look at the uproar from bayonetta 2 being exclusive. It's crazy. People need to lighten up, stop getting angry over nothing

I agree that samsung galaxy S III will continue to sell well for some time and the rest of the point. But where exactly do 3 year contracts happen? I have only seen 2 year contracts. 3 years is just stupid for a phone, look how much better they are now, then were 3 years ago. a major improvement in capabilities of mobile phones

The vast majority of iPhones are on 2 year contracts.  But sadly, 3 year contracts for iPhones are the norm up here in Canada.  At least we got unlocked iPhones before the US.

3 years is a long time for a phone really, especially how quickly the technology changes. 2 years seems just about right i think

Android is messy, glitchy, and just un organized.. ios is much more organized, and less glitchy, but it's just.. so closed..

First benchmarks of the CPU (A6) are in. Twice as fast as the A5 in the iPhone 4.

Interestingly though, ever so slightly SLOWER than the CPU in the Galaxy S3 (not by much, but still surprising).

http://www.tomshardware.com/news/iPhone-5-Benchmarks-ARMv7-performance-Apple-A6-Chip,17634.html

Not quite what I was expecting.

One possible explanation is that the A6 uses a newer instruction set (ARMv7s), so apps will automatically be faster after a recompile.  Javascript benchmarks just came out today and the new iPhone smokes the competition in this area:

http://www.anandtech.com/show/6309/iphone-5a6-sunspider-performance

Of course this Safari has surely been recompiled already.  But it's also worth noting that broadly speaking, if a dual-core and quad-core have the same benchmarks, the dual-core will be faster in real applications due to non-parallelized code.

I suspected this might be the case. It seemed a bit weird for the S3 chip to be faster considering its 5 months older. Be nice to have more info about it though. One things for sure, it's a lot faster then the A5X.
