I was stating that high quality games help move a console, regardless of whether or not nintendo have them.

Why can't sony do amazing graphics at a reasonable price? Just because they are hurting financially does not mean there dead broke. They still have huge financial backing and capabilities to continue to make excellent technology and have stated multiple times that they will continue to invest in profitable sectors such as gaming.

And the wii showed us how having a weak console causes lack of third party support and how you can sell a console based around a gimmick.

Releasing a large amount of information and trailers describing and showing off what their next generation consoles can do.

This would most likely confuse the core gaming market (aka the one's who buy the console early in the life-cycle) and get them to wait a while.

During this wait the WiiU may see reduced sales and thus reduced third party support making it even harder to attract gamers.

My guess we wont hear anything till E3 2013 at the earliest and by then the WiiU will have had a massive head start.

That means their launches will be a year apart, a time period i dont consider to be close at all.

If you meant that one year was close then i apologise for needlessly pointing out the release date of the WiiU.

I know how Sony/MS could totally fuck up the wiiU sales!.. by listening to their rabid fans of course!! they should release a super HD console that does 4K graphics!!! and be 30-40x!! more powerful than the wiiU !!

Listen to your fans MS / SONY !!! release a very high-tech console!! do it make it happen!! guaranteed win!! =)

I don't think there's a lot they can do. The systems are too old, and new game releases won't make a huge difference. A price cut could help make the systems look more favourable over the WiiU, but even this will do little.

It isn't a 3DS/Vita Japan launch scenario. Nintendo nailed that by having the cut price earlier in the year to combat it (even if it wasn't favourable for early adopters), but most importantly, releasing Monster Hunter that week. Neither Sony nor Microsoft can pull that this time.

MS should announce that the 720 is released at the end of 2013...around the time the Wii u is released.

By that I mean that they should announce it around the time the wii u is released. It was poorly worded

At this point in time there is little that Microsoft and Sony can do that will have a meaningful impact on the Wii U ...

For the first year of its life the Wii U will be selling primarily to die-hard Nintendo fans and early-adopter/hardcore gamers. These people will either already own a HD console or be uninterested in what they offer, so a price reduction or game release will (probably) not impact Wii U sales.

If the Wii U starts off selling to the mass market consumer to an extent that PS3 and XBox 360 price cuts have an impact on sales, the Wii U's sales in its first year will be unbelieveable.
