Never been into iPhones (or iOS devices for that matter). I find it too expensive for the things it can (and can't) actually do. I'm just amazed that it manages to sell like that at such high price point.

In my defense, CHROME does have a decent rating on the apps store of 3.5/5.0 I am not sure what you mean by keyboard applications, but I know you can use many different messaging apps on an iphone (skype, yahoo, etc.) But maybe that is not what you meant. If you are talking about changing text bubble colours, I can do that using Messages on my iMac, can not see how to do it on my wife's 3GS, and I am not sure if iOS 6 will or will not do that. TBH, it is not high on my priority list either way. As for saving email attachments, I have to apologize for my statement on that. It seems my wife was only referring to image attachments that she can save. Those are the only email attachments she gets. Further research on my part shows that other file types can not be saved without the use of an app like EVEREADER (free). Thank you for this mature conversation! I am really learning about smart phones, and it will help me to make informed decisions. |
Third party browsers cannot have their own engine and they can't use some of the Safari features. They can never be as fast and efficient as Safari. Because of this there is no point in using them unless you really like the looks. That was my point. It may seem like you can use other browsers but in reality you can't.
What I mean by messaging application is the system messaging application. Skype or other things do not send SMS. Sometimes I use other messaging applications that have different features that stock messaging applications don't. That was my point, colors were just an example. If you try to make an application like this it says that you can't change the core system functionalities or something like that. I thought you can't change the music application too, but apparently you can. Again, my apologies there.
There are various keyboard applications that have various features that stock keyboards don't. This video shows one of them: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_B89NRAtnzo Skip to 0.33 or so. It doesn't show the features but it gives you an idea of how much customization you can do. There are other videos but they were too long I didn't watch them, sorry!
A lot of these things don't seem like high priority things when you don't use them, but they all add to the experience. I didn't even think I need a smartphone before buying one and now it is part of my body. You need to use them to appreciate them.

You've gotta love it.
People hear that the Galaxy S3 has 9M preorders and it's all "That's awesome! Go Samsung!"
People hear that the iPhone5 might sell 10M in it's first week and it's all "Bunch of sheep."
So many haters, lol.
iPhone = Great gaming device. Don't agree? Who cares, because you're wrong.
Currently playing:
Final Fantasy VI (iOS), Final Fantasy: Record Keeper (iOS) & Dragon Quest V (iOS)

I watched the link for keyboard applications, and it does seem nice to be able to do that kind of stuff, although I can not see myself using it. Thank you for providing the link.
I remember playing around with themes when I first started to use firefox, but it kind of wore off after a while for me. My wife on the other hand loves them and will change her theme according to the seasons or her moods. I guess that level of customization will appeal to some and not to others. That is why it is so nice to have options.
In the absence of evidence to the contrary, always assume you have the upper hand.
