Forums - Nintendo - Wii U To Be $200 And Launch November 18th?

I'm cooking dinner while posting, but what I TRIED to say is that:

everytime PS4 or X720 drop the price, Nintendo gotta react right ? They need to react with a price cut too. And launching at 200, doesn't give them much room for pricecuts, and going bellow 140 bucks is not feasible anymore in this days.

Even the Wii hasn't dropped to 99$ yet.

I understand your meaning, but I don't believe it's accurate. It took quite a while for Nintendo to respond to the 360/PS3 pricedrops, for example, and that 'failure' didn't seem to have much impact.

If the games are there, the sales should follow. Personally, I think the games part of the equation is going to be the acchiles heel, not the price point. Not that they're going to launch at $200 anyways...

i should put this on wikipedia!

And in order to fund a $200 price tag in America, here in Europe, it will retail for €500...

If anything is for sure in the gaming industry, than that we europeans are fucked. So, I think your prediction is true.

$200 would not be selling at a loss from my analysis. They would make about $20 on each console.

Come on. The 200$ pricetag just doesn't make any sense.

299 without a game.

Predictions for Nintendo NX and Mobile

$200 with no game bundles and a gamepad would be awesome. Otherwise I'd see up to $299 with nintendoland and wiimote/nunchuck bundled. However its as likely we'll see wiimote bundled with Nintendoland on its own like Wii Play was.

Eitherway 9 days and we'll know for sure. :)

If this really launches at $200, then Nintendo might not be as dumb as we think. $200 would really be competing hard with current-gen and next-gen systems.

If Nintendo actually prices their console at this price, then they have a real shot at winning next-gen again.

I just hope theyre not selling them at a loss. I love nintendo.

If that's what Nintendo needs to do to succeed, then in the end it doesn't matter because they will eventually make back their profit loss. That's exactly what Sony had to do, but although that is a little bit extreme in their case.

Still, NIntendo has made so much money with the DS and Wii that they have a cash reserve to comfort them for a looooong time.

Note: I love Nintendo too, but it's their job to earn our money. Remember that.

Sony is different becuase they have large cash reserves (Although running out, and quick).

Nintendo is such a small company that MS's gaming division alone is larger. I think. So I dont think Nintendo would survive selling the WiiU for $200.

Yay!!!

That's the thing, though. Sony never made that money back. Given that they burned through all the profits of the PS2 era, they have a long way to go to say that they broke even on the entire PS3 venture, right? Not quite familiar with their financials.

Either way, the Yen/Dollar Yen/Sterling Yen/Euro exchange rates means that Nintendo is going to ratchet up the price on non-Japanese

Seriously? I didn't know Sony had it that bad. There had to of been a long-term goal for them to justify losing that much money, then. If anything, I'd say it was to win the format war.

Do you have a link to an article backing up what you claim about Sony, though?

I don't know why people tell me to get a life. I'm a gamer, I have lots of lives!

Not everything on Earth has an article or editorial. Sometimes you have to look up info and do the math yourself.
