If COD becomes exclusive to Xbox then Sony is doomed

I would be curious to see if they'd really make Call Of Duty an Xbox exclusive. Would the extra consoles sold be worth missing out on sales of around 12 million copies of the game? (Well not 12m since there would be users that would make the switch but still a shitload of sales to miss out on)

Well they spent $10 bn on Skype and that has made them fuck all. Also they have $50 bn in cash reserves, so I'm guessing they are just thinking about the long term increase in market share instead of actually making a return on the investment in the short term.

Buy activision and keep COD a multiplat.... thats what id do.

perhaps a slight bending of release dates and exclusive free content for MS consoles but that is all.

why turn down billions in cheap revenue from a competitor userbase?

But if they time the Xbox exclusivity to coincide with the release of the Xbox 720 then there will be hardly any competitor userbase and basically all casual gamers interested in getting annual CoD releases (there are millions of them) will swap to the Xbox.

That would be a big win for MS, but there would be a lot of issues like all the movie licenses which have cross platform clauses. Also Activision would lose almost half of it’s value instantly if they were limited to 360 and possibly PC. All of which will count against them with the other shareholders and the current board I am sure.

Also I would hate Blizzard to be shut down (or gutted) like Ensemble because they don’t make good console games.

Tencent would be interesting as suddenly Blizzard would have the most successful MOBA (League of Legends) under the same roof again lol. Plus they already have a deal to bring CoD Online to China. Tho I am surprised they have the money to consider it they only made $4.5b USD in revenue last year (I mean that is less than ActiBliz make themselves) getting $10b can't be easy.

Check out my hype threads: Cyberpunk, and The Witcher 3!

Lol, seems like they mentioned Microsoft for pageviews more than anything. Turning the Acti-franchises into exclusives would instantly make them lose billions on the investment and downsizing would would mean tons of restructuring costs and payouts on top of that.

Then again, I guess that's exactly the sort of stupid buyout Ballmersoft would make.

i can't imagine that being a good investment for MS. there is no guarantee that CoD will still be popular next gen. it's worth is halved (if not more) if it became an xbox exclusive. and let's face it, this is MS, they be targeted with billions in anti-competition lawsuits.

besides, MS and shown they prefer to work out exclusive deals with third parties more so than buying full studios.

Depending on purchase price I could see this actually being a bad purchase for MS. When you think of the stock market the best time to buy a stock is when it is at a low point but has potential to increase in value overtime...For instance buying shares of Apple a decade ago.

At this point it seems Activision is at a high point. So there is big risk in a purchase now, because their is a lot of downward territory that it could fall to and its really unkown how much higher its value could go but odds are not all that good I think.

So if MS ends up paying for its value now its a huge multiple Billion $ risk to take. MS has the money, but the question is if its a wise choice. At this point I don't see that it would be.

call of duty: kinect warfare 4 to be an xbox 720 exclusive. sony is d00med.

Seriously doubt it.

Well if they made it a exclusive, Activision would be worth so much less. Doesn't make sense for them (MS) to spend that much money to lose so much more.
