Eh, their shitty handling of an already poor situation did not help matters. There were some amazingly dedicated and well thought responses to the screwup that was ME3, mostly because of the passionate fanbase the original created, and without that response things would not be the same today.

I believe the ire is mostly justified, other than some childish capslock rants that occasionally drowned out the more measured responses (hell, Bioware employees on twitter are just as guilty in this case).

The new ending is really good and kind of still leaves the door open for indoctrination theory

Maybe if bioware didn't act like their market is a bunch of sex obsessed children , they wouldn't you know.... Have children playing.

I kinda want to play all the games just to see if the ending was really that big of a let down.

I tend to prefer happy endings myself, but my idea is that if you're going to do a bittersweet ending, it should at least be wholly relevant to the themes of the story. From what i've read, ME3's ending was largely irrelevant, or attempted to make the plot irrelevent, which is the problem.

Bioware didn't give in. They didn't change the endings. They expanded the existing endings by filling in the obvious plot holes. They wanted everyone to pick Synthesis and the utter ridiculousness of that Synthesis has only been increased by the extended cut. Fans wanted endings that fit theme of the ME series. Bioware didn't offer that. They shoehorned a rushed ill conceived version of the Deux Ex ending onto a franchise that was thematically incompatible.

Mass Effect was about different races getting along in spite of their differences. The "optimal" ending throws that theme out the window and embraces the notion that the the differences races of the universe have to be the same to get along. That it requires and incredible suspension of disbelief. There was always a bit of space magic in ME, but Synthesis takes the concept to incredible extremes.

Mass Effect is the Matrix of video games. It started off great. It was full of promise and despite it's flaws was an exceptional experience. The same could be said for Mass Effect 2. However, by the time you reached the conclusion you wish you hadn't even wasted your time.

Side note: Bethesda "gave in" with Broken Steel. They even admitted that they botched the ending to Fallout 3.

I played the first one but didn't get into it, so I didn't want to spoil the ME3 ending for myself, but now I've given up on the series I want to know. I'm going to have a guess at what happens, are the Mass Effect relays destroyed along with the reapers?

they openly toll anyone who disliked the original ending by adding the refuse option which honestly makes the most sense from Shepards character point of view and making it a giant middle finger to those who didnt like it.

Im officially over Bioware and ive never complained about a games ending and am ver laid back on being judgemental with games. People who enjoy these new endings, which arent even any different just with prettier cut scenes, deserve this crap ending.

While the ending left a lot unanswered, some people may have gone a bit overbroad on the negative comments.

Curious to see how things will turn out.
