Calling all other countries in financial trouble stupid is a bit nieve too. I can understand those who bluntly choose to spend their hand outs on a good life style but remember there is a lot of developing countries in Eastern Europe that need to spend to try and better themselves.

Anyone who lives in Europe would know that the only countries really doing anything to try and stop the EU collapse are Germany and, to a lesser extent, England and France. If it wasn't for Germany, it's likely the Euro and the EU may have collapsed entirely, like it probably will next week anyway.

Germany is in a very good position financially, and still have (I believe) their AAA credit rating, unlike some countries...

If you're gonna take ridiculous shots at people, CNN, at least make them accurate.

Really have to be careful what news channels you watch in the US. A lot of the reporters are just plain stupid.

How do Germans feel about the whole Greece debarcle?

Personally if I was German I'd be wanting to pull out of Europe and create a super currency with Scandinavia. That would be hilarious.

Der Spiegel is available in English, so it's more like the equivalent of reading the Times of India.

According to latest surveys 59% of germans are in favour of the European Union and think their country benefits from it. I can't find an english source for it right now, so you'll just have to take my word for it I guess
