Their massive profit streak.

Microsoft:
- Closed many PC centric studios

Actually, no they didn't.

Aces Studio was responsible for Microsoft Flight.
Access/Indie Built was responsible for Links, and sold to Take Two, which eventually closed it.
Carbonated Games were responsible for a few XBLA games, but mostly several MSN Messenger games.
Digital Anvil was absorbed into Microsoft Game Studios.
Ensamble was primarily responsible for the Age of Empires series, after their closure the founders reformed as Robot Entertainment, which went on to make Age of Empires Online, and Orcs Must Die.
FASA was largely responsible for the Mech series of games (MechWarrior/Mech Assult/Mech Commander).

In total, over a decade, Microsoft closed three three PC studios, absorbed one, and sold off another.  It also closed up one casual games maker of console/PC games.

There were several "studios" that were setup for different game projects, but they existed within Microsoft Game Studios.  Thus, a pseudo independent development studio was formed, but it was simply a team of MGS members working on a project for MGS.  Hired Gun is an example, they worked on the Halo 2 port for the PC.

MacDonald's.

Then again, Noctis' sig tells of a very different, more enchanting story, so I'm not entirely sure.

Since the game angle has been covered pretty well, I'll come from the videophile angle

Sony
+ Best video output with pretty much all sound formats supported
+ Still one of the best blu-ray players
+ Flawlessly plays most video formats, upto 24mbps m2ts (h.264) with dolby 5.1
+ Video player is very responsive, love the 1.5x mode with sound
- Movies on video store limited to 720p at half the bit rate of Zune downloads
- Hardly any previews/trailers for movies
- You tube limited to lowest quality (if not pre-downloading through ps3youtube.com trick)

Microsoft
+ Zune video store, highest bit rate on the downloadable market (still only 10mbps)
+ Love the instant streaming trailers
- Limited to 768kbps Dolby Digital or pro logic surround.
- Annoying gamma correction in video signal makes perfect calibration impossible
- Microsoft points
- Need gold subscription to watch Netflix, youtube etc.
- Picture viewer and a lot of video players are not true 1080p

Nintendo
+ Netflix works with no extra cost
- Limited to 480p
- Only analog sound support

Here we go:

N: Likes

- Plenty of great IPs, rich history

- Various innovations, interesting hardware and software game integrations

Dislikes

- Their controllers have been very dissapointing except the gamecube's, the wii mote didn't do motion as well as it should have but with plus now it is better, the wii mote also is a terrible traditional controller lacking analog sticks requiring an additional controller to provide

- IPs focus mainly on younger audience accessability which is not conductive to the fact I age, because of this varies genres have gone untouched or atleast lack the capabilities to provide "realism"

- Gravitating away from core games to cater to casual markets thus creating a dissapointing 7th gen for many long time gamers

- Lack of 3rd party support, lack of games not using motion controlls

- Late entry to HD, online market and multiplayer, point based currency

- Large company with many products providing more than just gaming

- Free online, PS Plus model

Dislikes

- Inconsolable negative public image, under scrutiny

- late online infastructure

- premature introduction of the Cell processor, not developer friendly, expensive for consumer and company

- hit and miss marketing

M: Likes

- Crafting successful online infrastructure

- Easy to develop for, plenty of 3rd party support
