Forums - PC - New SimCity requires internet connection to play

That's a silly reason not to buy. If you're computer is already online, who cares?

I'll probably still buy it. I know I've had zero issues with Civ5 that has the same type of rule. I just think too many people cry about too many things.

This anti-piracy solution is far better than a rootkit. Granted, I think the key code was just fine and more than enough to limit piracy to only the worst offenders.

so you never game on a laptop when you dont have internet? i cant count the hours ive burned in civ/simcity/C&C off line ... single player off line is a must... multiplayer is a nice option and great for showing off, but single player is needed,

EA i know you wont, but set it up like minecraft ... id still pay up to 60usd for it if you did, and i hate you. man managing my own sim city server would be pimp, and till have a single player offline mode woooo

come play minecraft @  mcg.hansrotech.com

minecraft name: hansrotec

XBL name: Goddog

seems more and more companies are going the "always online" way, that is of course if Durengo and Orbis go there to. Soon they will tell you how to sit while playing your games!

    R.I.P Mr Iwata :'(

It's funny how it's so easy to decide whether to buy some games these days: if it has DRM, don't buy. It's that simple for me. And if it doesn't have DRM... Well, things get a little bit more interesting but obviously NOT IN THIS CASE.

Everyone have different standards. It's my choice to not allow them to push stupid restriction on me. It's a single player game, not MMO.

Civ5 does not requires always online. Unless I've been tricked?

It requires steam connection which means online.

Steam has an offline mode you know.

I think it's kind of bullshit when the pirates get a better deal than the paying customers.

Origin you say? You know what, depsite this being among my favorite franchises since I grew up, I refuse to ever pruchase anything that requires Origin. Its that bad.

I don't see the problem? How are you posting on these forums if you don't have an Internet connection?

I describe myself as a little dose of toxic masculinity.

Guess I'm gonna have to pass, my home pc is not connected to the internet most of the week.

Shame EA, such a shame :

Read it yesterday at gamespot. It was a huge letdown, now I know I will not buy this game since my internet connection is pretty shitty.

3DS FC :  4339 - 3326 - 7693. Add me :) Nickname Tin

I bought Heroes VI and at first I didn't mind the fact that it required constant internet connection, but lately whenever my internet accesss stops working for a few seconds, I have to restart the game (most of the time in the middle of a battle) and lose my progress. Yes, it's extremely annoying, but Heroes 6 is such an incredible game that I rather have to deal with this tha not get to play the game.

Same as the above user.

For whatever reason my internet connection is below 1.000 kbit/s atm even though 12.000 kbit/s is possible and recently I get a lot of disconnects.
