Nope. I don't own laptops... only game via home. The only long trip I've taken where I wanted portable entertainment, I bought a DS and a couple games. Sold them when I got back. If I take a job where I travel more, I'll have my smartphone with games/movies or I'll buy a 3DS. Civ and SimCity take too long to play for me to want to do it on a laptop.... I hate using mousepad on those games and I don't memorize the short cuts keys. |
always packa mouse so when im stuck in an airport i can break it out... portable are nice, but i awlays have a laptop on me, for work and combining in my gaming just makes it easier... the cell phone has reduced the amount i use it, but i find my psp far less used now, the laptop less effected by the cell phones rise... now i want loco roco on my htc rezound

I agree, the trackpad on any laptop really doesn't cut it for gaming, even for those simplistic online flash games. I've been gaming on laptops for the past 7 years and I always use a mouse for it.
Having said that, i'm much more comfortable with the Keyboard of a laptop than on a normal computer, especially with the one of my current laptop, as there's a very nice spacing between keys and a good depression feedback. Plus, my laptop can run any game currently released so I'm good with it.
OT - It's a shame that SimCity is going with the Internet Connection to play way, but sadly that's going to become the norm in the future.

To be fair; the Westwood employes were given jobs within EA. Making mobile games for the likes of N-Gage... What a glorious task!

Okay, well I can certainly play Total War games, as I don't really bother with the actual battles. But I do just tend to play turn based, or very slow paced games on my laptop, but it is CERTAINLY better than a tablet

I believe it would be possible. I just simply suck at using trackpads because I have little to zero experience using them (I'v always had desktop computers). I have never owned a laptop. So if you play on laptop for a few years then I am sure one can get decent with it. I would just plainly suck and get pretty annoyed. You do win the portability contest though.

Fair enough, I am planning on moving to a nice powerful desktop anyway
I'm kind of glad in a way. I already had severe reservations with the game ($80 for the full game, origin, no mod support at launch, hints of being a social game). This just makes the decision to pass on it much easier. This would be the perfect time for Ubisoft to pull their head out of their ass and build some goodwill with fans by removing the DRM from Settlers and Anno.
