It's funny how it's so easy to decide whether to buy some games these days: if it has DRM, don't buy. It's that simple for me. And if it doesn't have DRM... Well, things get a little bit more interesting but obviously NOT IN THIS CASE.

Everyone have different standards. It's my choice to not allow them to push stupid restriction on me. It's a single player game, not MMO.
Civ5 does not requires always online. Unless I've been tricked?
