I'd say war criminal, not terrorist.

I'd consider it terrorism if the same thing happened but outside of a war scenario. Like if some guy from Windsor went to Detroit and murdered 16 people for religious (or other) reasons.

Yes he is a terrorist. I'm sure if he was a Muslim everyone would be calling him a terrorist. That's just how the world has become.

Until a full investigation is made who knows, as it stands it looks like one soldier went cuckoo and murdered those people, but it wasn't the actions of a terrorist.

Personally I hope it was the case he had a breakdown, the rumours flying about that he isn't as crazy as was first reported and that alcohol might have played a major factor would be far more damaging than one nutjob going on a killing spree.

Doesn't qualify as terrorism, as it appears his intentions wasn't to cause terror to the society. BBC says he was either drunk or had a mental breakdown, if it's the former, then he was just doing what US soldiers do best, being an asshole. (read: urinating corps, leashing and humiliating prisioners, burning copys of the Koran)

I hate the term terrorism. It is spoiled by politics. If someone is a terrorist is decided by politicians.

Here in germany it is counted as terrorism, if at least three people together do one of a long list of crimes involving a political message. or instance making an illegal graffito, saying the government sucks. If it counts as terrorism, the police has more rights, that's why we have many cases of terrorism here. Nobody got killed though.

That's why I will call any killer just killer or murderer. I don't care if they done it to send a political message, or because they like murder, or because they are mentally ill. Killing people is an outrageous crime, whoever did that for whatever reasons. If we start to call some people terrorists, some other will be labeled rebels or freedom fighters. I don't want that.

Cause you know... there are tons of examples on record or people with mental illnesses killing multiple people in multiple locations in a short period of time.
