Forums - Sales - If InFamous 2 struggled to sell 1 million... are Twisted Metal and StarHawk DOOMED?!

What's terrible is you predicting sales based on.... internet hype? Yet in the same post, you say the majority of consumers aren't even aware that inFamous 2 released digitally. If the majority of consumers don't know that, what makes you think internet hype will be a good indicator of sales.

Anyway, comparing unrelated games is retarded. Besides being PS3 exclusives, they have nothing in common.

A better question: Socom 4 failed to reach a million, are The Last of Us & The Last Guardian doomed?

Infamous 2 didn't have trouble selling a million. WTF you talkin' 'bout Willis?

and with it relasing day and date on psn too.

and Festival of Blood is the quickest selling psn title ever too.

sounds like inFAMOUS was quite sucessful to me

Whats with all these sony doom and gloom posts? are we back in 2007 again.. smh. these games will do fine. im going to play and enjoy them and thats all i care about. you should too.

I'm still not sure why 1 million is still a sales benchmark when most HD titles can't even turn a profit at that level.

1. It's supposed to have more replay value due to it's User Generated Content.

2. It's an open world game just like Red Dead Redemption, LA Noire, Arkham City, etc.... Those didn't have any trouble selling.

The UGC feature in InFamous 2 is not that great IMO. I played quite a lot of them to get all the trophies, but I don't think they would really convince anyone to get the game if they were undecided in the first place. Even the Sucker Punch created UGC levels are pretty forgettable.

Even though it's a sandbox game, you are looking at 35 hrs gameplay for 2 play throughs (that's what it took me to get the Plat trophy). And now that I've done that... nothing more to do except play so-so UGC levels.

For me, I was really happy to pay full price and had a lot of fun, but I can see it as the kind of game to borrow from your friend for week if you don't want to spend the cash.

Check http://www.infamousthegame.com

They have stats on how many players in total have played the UGC levels. Pretty interesting. Looks like on avg each player has played about 14 levels.

I think he meant "moist".  The moisturizer isn't cheap, you know.

Going to guess that is has to do with the engine already being made and the game only having a dev cycle of ~2 years.

I am pretty sure the game was profitable. If not, then I doubt Sony would have had reason to purchase them back in August.
