Forums - Sales - If InFamous 2 struggled to sell 1 million... are Twisted Metal and StarHawk DOOMED?!

Or here in Australia -

http://www.jbhifionline.com.au/game/ps3/infamous-2-hero-edition/644213 - Hero - SlingBag/Figurine Limited Ed - $69AUD

http://www.jbhifionline.com.au/game/ps3/infamous-2/647972 - Regular Edition $49

New games RRP here for between $79 - 109 (JB is one of the cheaper stores, but a usually. And according to many posters on this site Australia is a Sony "heartland".

And when many retailers are still selling Limited Premium Editions for around %50  off 6 months after launch - I'd say it's definitely "struggling" around the million mark.

They aren't doomed at all.
Those titles likely doesn't have supper big development budget so selling even 500k copies with around 30$ going to Sony should be break even point so I think those games will have minimal profit in the long term.

They also work as part of platform advertising.

both games have been in development for 3-4 years. Maybe more.

So? If you don't know how many people worked on it during that time it's meaningless.

Both games had smaller teams working on them. Dylan Jobe's team has always been pretty small when he's been in interviews with Starhawk and stuff, and Twisted Metal began life as a PSN only title but got 'expanded'. Not saying their budgets are tiny but I'd assume they'd be fine with a million sales, so thats a decent target.

I think they'll be fine, they have good launch windows imo. Twisted Metal has pretty much got the early March window to itself between SSX and Max Payne. Starhawk will probably take the April / May slot too, which is generally alright too. InFamous launches in June when sales tend to get a bit lower for summer too. I'd rather take something like Heavy Rain, an iffy new IP which managed to sell really well with some modest marketing and having a 2 weeks launch window to itself in the middle of Feb.

I hope they sell really well as they both take me as games which are purely made as gamer games, with no gimmicks or reliance of CGI. Just pure gaming, hard to really put in words but watching Twisted Metal gameplay is just so different to most games nowadays, feels so old school.
