Why did M.U.G.E.N get banned?

One word - Maxwell

Oh please. At least Maxwell did his job, whether you liked it or not (although it's no surprise you don't) and you wouldn't see the same amount of trolling aand BS when he took care of a thread as you see today. Yeah he was more focused on Nintendo threads, but with good reason. 

Quite frankly, threads were more civilized when he was around.

I actually somewhat agree, given I think he was harsh on carl a couple of times, but he was generally good at his job. Carl surprised you didn't say Dunno. 

Maxwell had his share of unfair bans, Carl did suffer with him that's true, but he was pro-active and did much more good than bad. Now Dunno was a bad mod, even though he was an overall good member before he went to the modding staff.

Wow, a moderator who banned trolls. That's a surprise. The fact is, his nose was stuck inside a Nintendo shaped butthole and he couldn't handle someone saying something ill of Nintendo. Add in the well known fact he held grudges against several members... Bad mod.

The problem with banning on intent, is that you can never be 100% sure of the intent in a lot of posts made.

Bias also clouds that decision. Maxwell was the most biased mod we had.

The thing is, any long time member here in VGC should easily spot those who have actual malicious intent or ulterior motives/hidden agenda behind their posts from those who posts light-hearty stuff and overall fun grabbing threads to lighten the mood (your Rol "troll" threads are a good example of that). Having the ability to distinguish between both, should be a pre-requisite for being able to moderate a forum/site/whatever.

To make myself clear, I'll give the example of Starcraft. He was probably one of the biggest trolls/trouble starters I've seen, yet his actions remained unchecked most of the times because he cleverly stealthed his trolling. Anytime he went further with the trolling, he got banned. If he were still around today, probably he could get away with pretty much anything, and that's the biggest difference from how moderation used to be to what it is now.

well i think everything is being said for me. i think the mods are doing an ok job at this point. the situation affects business/flow as usual and thats the problem.

we're going to have these problems hell its a web site. i just hope it gets fix'd soon. even though there are work arounds we shouldn't have to resort to them to keep the flow going smoothly, but hey nothings ever smooth on VGC.
