Forums - Website Topics - With all do Respect - User Post History disappearing during a Ban.. is Retarded.

Yeah I think it would be great if they only deleted all the posts of a user if they got permabanned.

Around the Network

Honestly, I think if the user was permabanned his post that violated the rules should be removed. But removing his entire history seems like it takes away from the forum. He may have been an A-Hole and done something to receive a permaban but chances are he did contribute something to the site and what he contributed shouldn't be taken down. I've been in threads before with several missing posts and wondering what the heck the users had said, sure if it was all advertisement spam then that's one thing. But if a genuine user was just a prick a lot of the time but still contributed other users should be able to see what he wrote.

As for the issue of moderation, I don't mind the current moderation team except I think they are too easy on users. I have seen several writers violating rules and getting reported but they are always found innocent. Recently I've been a bit bad and have replied to threads saying almost exactly what those users said but in the opposite context.

I fully expected to be banned for a lot of what I have said recently or at least been warned. I know these things violate the rules because I was moderated for them in the past. Zexen_Lowe moderated me for a comment that was very very very tame compared to comments from several writers, which I then made similar comments to see if the Mod's were being biased. In fact Maxwell warned me once for bumping a thread, bumping a thread. Seriously today I see people bumping threads and insulting other users and trolling and nothing is done about it.

The main good thing I've noticed about the mods is, I haven't been banned for saying the same kind of stuff the writers said. This shows at least they aren't being that biased, on the other hand both what those writers said and what I said would have gotten us both banned or at least warned in the past.

Seriously look at my moderation history and what I was warned and banned over, then look at what I and the writers have said recently in some threads. I nor the writers would have gotten away with this a few years ago!

Also sorry to anyone who recently witnessed my test of the moderation system. I just wanted to see if the mods would ban me for acting the same way as a writer. Obviously since I'm still here and didn't even receive a warning, I guess that says they passed my test. I don't try to be as confrontational as I have been lately and I apologize for that!

Banning on this website is absolutely retarded and out of line. Moderators are so easily at prey of being their own type of sensitive fanboys themselves. It actually hurts this community more then helps it.

"User was banned for : Calling Nintendo games, only games for Children!!!"

The Horror! People need to grow thicker skin and moderators need to differentiate legitimate material that doesn't belong on these forums versus people just having opinions you may or may not disagree with.

I think the fact that equal numbers of people say we are too lenient and too harsh means that we're about right.

I'd say it depends on your perspective.  In some ways I'd argue we've been to lenient, and in other ways I'd argue we've been to strict,.  Depending on their  view, some will probably notice one of the two more than the other.

This subject was touched on a good bit in my thread about the forums a couple of months back.

Of course, you'll always have some people saying you're too harsh/lenient regardless of what you do.

AFAIK they only delete your post history for a permaban, not just a temporary ban. If we are assuming that someone is bad enough that they will never post anything worthwhile in the future, we can also assume that they have never said anything worthwhile in the past either.

Your assumptions are incorrect.

My advice to fanboys: Brag about stuff that's true, not about stuff that's false. Predict stuff that's likely, not stuff that's unlikely. You will be happier, and we will be happier.
