very good news, wish Nintendo did this for the 3DS. I'll probaly never get to play SMT: DS Overclock.

if more people ask, they can simply remove region locking through firmware.

was there any doubt ? , all sony's consoles were region free before.

Playstation 1 and playstation 2 weren't region free.

PS2's were locked by DVD movies not games, i don't remember PS1 though, but i can't play  my US FFVIII on my UK PS3.

The games were locked if I remember correctly, since I couldn't play Japanese games on my Phat Ps2.

Now we just need confirmation on to things for the device to be a total win.

Price on Storage Solutions
Price on Games (There's a thread right now stating 40$[same as PSP and 3DS], I'm just waiting for that to be official.)

Games were definitely region locked on PS2 and 1.

I think it's awesome that Sony stopped that shit and made their console region free for games. This way I can get games that might not be released in my region. That's a pretty big plus in my book.

If it is SD cards and Games are $40, it would be a full house for sony.

If the UK prices stay the same, it will be just under £40 cheaper to import the console from USA.

Yes you are correct. Altrough all laser mods were removing region lock.

I don't get why Sony doesn't just accept that 85% of the marketplace standard.....seriously is that remaining piece of pie really that worth it. It would be if HDDVDs still tried to compete again Blu-ray to this day.

Just give in. . .
