While it seems Sony finally understands what to do with games on the portable scene...

Nintendo have Mario Kart this Holiday. And the option to cut the price, if they so wish.

3DS will outsell Vita this Holiday. Unless of course, NGP gets a MH game releasing in Japan, alongside a Call of Duty in America and a Gran Turismo in Europe.

Carl, I think sony has a chance to beat them if it launches with the right game. However Nintendo is in the option to cut the price, that is 100% for sure. Sony will most likely be stuck at that price point.

Haha but I think NGP might have won with that price. For me anyway...

I'll admit i felt a note of fear as a Nintendo fan when they said "our friends from Capcom," but then i remembered that they would never premier a Monster Hunter at E3

Monster Hunter: pissing me off since 2010.

once monster hunter and cod is relesed for PSV 3ds is doomed

In my view, it was quite telling that Sony announced only 2 "major" 3rd Party Games for Vita.

“When we make some new announcement and if there is no positive initial reaction from the market, I try to think of it as a good sign because that can be interpreted as people reacting to something groundbreaking. ...if the employees were always minding themselves to do whatever the market is requiring at any moment, and if they were always focusing on something we can sell right now for the short term, it would be very limiting. We are trying to think outside the box.” - Satoru Iwata - This is why corporate multinationals will never truly understand, or risk doing, what Nintendo does.

Sure, there's always a chance with the right games. We know Call of Duty can sell 20 Million a Year and Japan is absolutely loving the PSP right now, so Japan support is pretty much guaranteed. So there is a chance... I just think it's too early to call with the lack of actual game info we have right now.

@Mr Khan.

While MH wasn't announced here, I think it's pretty much guaranteed that the Vita will get a MH game at some point. MH has thrived on PSP, and the PS3 is even getting a MH game now. Capcom and Sony seem to have a successful partnership.

So 3DS is doomed because now the PSV is going to launch at a similar price and with bigger features.  So what?  I have yet to find a compelling argument to go against buying 3DS.  Also, two major 3rd party games for Vita?  I'm sorry, but that seems a bit... strange, as far as I can tell.

This is what I'm getting at.

It's way too early to call with the lack of info we have on the games...

Gamescom will be big for Vita. It has to be. E3 focused on a bunch of 1st party stuff. Gamescom should be for the 3rd parties... And then Tokyo Game Show... The thing explodes all over Japanese pants.

The 3Ds looks dated and expensive.

Agreed. Every iteration of their handhelds after the Color has one or two fatal flaws that keep me from buying them. I still have hope though.

I am the Playstation Avenger.

TGS will be more telling, as we know 3DS just isn't going to be getting good Western third party support by nature, but the key will be where the momentum of the Japanese developesr swing

The way things are currently looking in Japan, it's looking like the Vita could run away with it there...

PSP is beating everything right now, including the 3DS. PSP is still getting excellent support, despite Vita being right around the corner. Vita is priced really well. Vita has great compatibility with the PS3, which is also doing really well right now. The list of Japanese developers already working on the system is huge.

If Sony play this right... And for once in the last 6 Years, don't screw up... They could be onto a winner.
