Forums - Gaming - So. 3DS vs Vita, now what?

I will wait for Mario 3DS and Mario Kart 3DS to be release until I claim something like the 3DS is doomed. Just a friendly advice. Let's wait for the games to come out and if those games didn't do anything then that's the time that we should be worried because that would mean that the software isn't the problem but maybe the system itself.

I hope that in this year's TGS we would see more 3DS games and especially PSV games.

off-topic. Isn't Nintendo usually don't attend TGS right? and they have their own event for Japan right?

PS Vita is a great handheld, BUT.... apart from the price, PS Vita has nothing exciting/new

we've seen the graphics on Ps3/Xbox360, they are nothing new, even on a small handheld

3DS on the other side has the most accessible 3D on the market and when combined with Nintendo's games it will crush PS Vita one way or another....

I think it's Nintendo once more!!

This is incorrect.

PS Vita introduces Dual multi-touch (front and back), Dual Analog Sticks on a portable, Cross game chat on a portable, and has the highest hardware specs of any current portable device (Quad CPU, Quad GPU, Etc.) for a fraction of the price.

Nintendo Has not changed gameplay in anyway over the DSi (aside gyro/accelerometer which everything has now). The 3D is only an augmentation of visuals and does not add to any input or output of the gameplay/system. So arguing that Nintendo has done more innovation with the 3DS from a technical aspect is FACTUALLY incorrect.

Which leaves software, for which I am seeing more interesting NEW concepts and demos from Vita development than 3DS. Current 3DS offerings have disappointed many, though for future releases, I will still buy some first party 3DS games here and there, but the game library Vita is developing is looking more interesting as a whole.

Your argument boils down to

Dual analog + multi-touch + back touch > single analog + single touch, so Vita > 3DS.

As I said above, the 3D is a jump of its own. 2 Screens as compared to one gives for different types of gameplay. Maybe it's not innovative, but it definitely sets it apart from Vita. They each have their strengths and weaknesses.

I was stating what was new in a portable device.

The 3DS vs. DSi: added 1 analog slider, gyro/accelorometers, 3D slider.

Their Dual screens does still differentiate them, but not as much as the Vita.

The PSP vs. Vita: added 2 Multi-touch surfaces, 2 analog sticks, gyro/accelorometers, Cross game voice chat.

Non of the Vita features are in any other portable device, thats why it is unique. Also they offer a 3G/GPS model which the 3DS does not.
