i say wii will sell 53 mil by the end of 08
ps3 will sell 19 mil
and xbox 360 will sell 22 mil

To get this thread going I will ask some specific questions. First one: Will Gran Tourismo 5 released this year? My prediction on this: Yes, it will come this year. I think Sony cannot sustain more delays of big software-titles. So they will put more resources on finishing this one, if necessary.

It might. But between two consoles will split the overall increases each sees. Even if each sees increases close to Halo 3 increases, it will just barely beat the Wii. And I just don't see it increasing both consoles that much. 

That would mean the PS3 would have to double sales compared to last year, and yet the 360 will decrease compared to last year, even though it's getting some of the PS3 games like DMC4 and GTA4? 

With Halo, the 360s biggest seller, it sold 8 million units last year. Without Halo, even with GTA4, I don't see it doing much better than that, especially with the increase PS3 competition.

SSB:B sold 1 million in Japan first week (prem data), so I expect it to sell more than that in 2008.

See above. Also, SMG is already reaching for 7 million. Your other points are good, maybe slightly high for PS3, slightly low for 360.

Leo-j states many things, but is banned so I can't read most of them. I think he was accusing people of hating the PS3.

As for my predictions:

2008 Totals (in order of highest selling to lowest selling)
Wii: 22.63 million (assuming Nintendo does not raise production)
PS3: 11.39 million, a 50% increase over 2007
360: 8.83 million, no Halo 3, lowers sales, GTA4 raises sales, overall flat over 2007

Total Sales Year Ending 2008 (in order of highest selling to lowest selling)
Wii: 38.99 million
360: 24.95 million
PS3: 19.04 million

Why do many people make such broad predictions? If it hits within the huge field you've assigned it, its not really a good prediction imo.
Everyone should try to round up or down tot the nearest million to make things more fair. I'd hate to see a heap of folks climbing in the predictions league despite being potentially way off compared to others who might have had a much closer precise million numeral.
