Forums - Nintendo Discussion - Another Code Recollection

I avoided the leaks for the recent Nintendo Direct, and good thing I did, so I could lose my shit when suddenly Ashley appears on screen. I really, really thought the IP was dead and lost in rights hell after Cing was bankrupt. But apparently Nintendo not only cared enough to pick up the IP, but also to pour resources into a full blown Remake. Not only a little, these are completely new graphics and animations, remember the first game was on the DS.

I really like these games, especially the Wii game which never released in North America. In my opinion one of the best loooking Wii games, but it also looks remade.

As a side note: if you american, then you might know the first game as Trace Memories, as this was the American title. The second game as I said never released there. Both games were called Another Code in both europe and the original japanese (Anazā Kōdo).

If you never encountered the game and like adventure puzzle games then give yourself a treat and don't sleep on this.

I never got to play the original version so this is great.

Have it wishlisted.

This was the best announcement from the direct for me. Loved the DS game back in the day. It was a short, easy but super cozy adventure game with some ingenious puzzles.
Of course I would have rather we got a new game, but that they revives this series is certainly a better than nothing.

Hotel dusk remake next year and something original in two? If the game sell that is. It is not the most popular of franchises in a not so popular genre after all.

As I thought the IP dead and lost I am more than pleased to see it again, even as a remake.

I have doubts though Nintendo also picked up Hotel Dusk. I have no indication of it.

Also something to note: the short sequence they showed from the second game looks totally different, so even the Wii game is a full blown remake. Which makes me think Nintendo only picked up the IP and has nothing of the original code and assets.

They did pick up both Hotel dusk and Another Code!

Here is a source for Nintendo owning hotel dusk: https://www.nintendolife.com/news/2014/08/former_cing_vice_president_would_like_the_story_of_hotel_dusk_to_continue

There is database somewhere to search for ownership of intellectual property where I a month or so back search for both Another Code/Trace Memory and Hotel Dusk. Both active and both owned by Nintendo. Cannot find the site right now however.

Oh nice! Then they may later also make Hotel Dusk remake, at least if this recollection does decently well.

Btw, does anyone know what studio develops this remaster? I tried but failed to find that information.

Ill get it. Beat the first one on the DS. Dont remember much of it though, but I know I enjoyed it. Never played the sequel.

Never played either, and want to give this a go.
Nintendo is bringing back some neglected games and IPs recently. Hopefully that doesn't stop in the first few years of Switch 2.

Kind of an announcement on the same level of the remakes of the Detective Famicom games which is great because it means Nintendo are actually enclosed to invest in some forgetten more niche kind of games as well for variety sake.

Heard about the Wii game as a hidden gem so I will make this my early 2024 game !

Also, I'm definitely curious as to which dev team work on this ?
