I'm thinking it will make around $2.2 billion world wide so it will end up between Titanic and Avatar. It will be the second highest grossing domestically and third highest overseas.

C'mon Star Wars, you can beat that Pocahontas wannabe! This'll be your last shot till 9 and 10 :L and 10 won't hit till like the 2030s...

Tagged. Looking like a $250m opening weekend in the US,..with the December multiple Avatar is definitely in its sights. At this point I'd say $2bn worldwide is a given also

That's the best Avatar definition ever :P. I hope it will beat Avatar, I think it's a much better movie.

It will pass Avatar as the highest grossing film of all time and will have a shot at surpassing Gone with the Winds 3.4 billion inflation gross.

Proud to be a Californian.

I'm interested in how this will end up, tagging for future updates!

Well it smashed the one day record by set by HP: Deadly Hallows Part 2 by almost 30 million. It definitely will have the highest opening domestic weekend. Can't wait for the early weekend numbers to show up tomorrow.

Very much liked the movie!

starcraft - Playing Games = FUN, Talking about Games = SERIOUS

Are we counting both Avatars release and its re-release. I think its not possible to beat Avatar considering the re-release but force awakens will gross more than 2 billion. In the line on the screening I went to there were ppl from 10 to 70 years, everyone is watching this movie, every generation, and the positive reviews from both critics and viewers is making even ppl who were undecided or who only ever watched the originals and tought they werent gona go to the movies for this new journey to go an watch it.

The $500 million, is that sales up to Friday or Saturday?
