In the UK 62m people buy approx 23m home consoles.

And yes... It's by far the biggest console market in Europe.  France is second with approx 13m, some 10m behind.

The UK is essentially the joint second largest home console market on the planet with Japan this gen.

It's sad that germany is even behind France. germany has the biggest population and the biggest economy in europe, so it should be the biggest market. But somehow videogaming has a bad reputation over here, so it ends up on the third place.

Isn't it bigger than France with PC included? The PC market there is huge

That may be well the case, but I don't believe that is true for UK.

the whole games market is bigger here, someone posted the revenue of french, uk and german market. uk was little bit in front of germany but if you take out all the uk sales which go to other european countries, germany is maybe already the country with the biggest games market in europe if you only look at the domestic market.

but true, gaming doesn't have a good reputation here

Do Sales really matter? Nintendo made a huge Profit on Wii where as Xbox and PS3 not so much. In business terms its the smart companys that make money. Any company can copy another companys ideas and make it better over time. Any company can make a super powerful system and sell it at a loss. What Nintendo do is amazing, they can make profits in console manufacturing which is no easy feet for any company. Wii doesnt have to sell anymore, its done its job. It made Nintendo Millions, Wii = Success.

the official figures for 2012, released a few weeks ago, had germany second just behind the UK, and more surprising is if the growth trend of 2012 continues in 2013 then germany will overtake the UK in 2013.

I think our UK economy isnt performing as good as the german one

hmmm nah. Nintendo has NEVER led in Europe. In the NES and SNES era, all of Europe was dominated by Sega.

UK has fallen, NA is soon to follow. M$ will have taken USA and have a good foothold in Europe, they'll be able to attack JAPAN AND RULE THE WORLD!!!




Then do mediocre in Japan at best and just be satisfied with what it has.
