My boyfriend and I are going to see it this weekend since he's not working.

I don't understand why he split the book into 3 movies .. there is just way less to work with than with LotR.

well, I'm going to watch part 1 tomorrow in HFR 3D and hope it's worth it..

Three movies for the Lord of the Rings was too few =)

I describe myself as a little dose of toxic masculinity.

I really liked it, tho there were a few scenes that I could have done without such as most of Radagast.

Weta once again proved how fucking amazing they are at everything from models and props too digital effects. And Andy Serkis deserves a bloody Oscar one of these days the guy is incredible.

It was quite good. Better than I expected since the book bored me when I read it 10+ years ago.

Though yeah the beginning is really slow. I was kidding to my gf that the film would stop once they set a foot out of Bag End and at one point I believed it myself...

Yea each book could have been it's own movie. I mean the novels are split into 2 books each technically so there is even built in break points. That would have let them cover so much more stuff such as  Tom Bombadil and the Barrow-downs, and the ruined Shire etc.

I can't wait to see how the shortest book in the series is going to be stretched into a trilogy. There'll have to be a lot of made up crap thrown in there.

I saw it in 48 FPS 3D yesterday and it was great! I don't know why people are complaining about the frame-rate.

Also, the critics don't know shit

I too am concerned about this story being stretched into a trilogy and worse - the inevitable 'Extended Edition' of the Trilogy.

But Peter Jackson does make amazing movies so I'm looking forward to it.

Going with my friends in few weeks time, girlfriend really doesn't want to, but I suppose I did manage to coax my way out of twilight, so I can't call in a favour. I did find it slightly weird that they've stretched hobbit into three movies whereas lotr had a movie each, and books considerably larger. Haven't read either hobbit or lotr in a very long time :/ might have to reread hobbit before we go methinks

Disconnect and self destruct, one bullet a time.

I'm going to watch it in a few hours. Never liked The Lord of the Rings, but I'll probably be able to sit through this.
