Nothing has happened to WM+ -- other than regular development cycles taking time.

Software companies -- particularly third-parties -- want to make sure there are enough peripherals out there before fully developing software that uses the device.

Those who are betting on other devices on other consoles need to take note of this -- especially since other companies do not have the same software development capacity as Nintendo.

Yeah, but i think its time developers show up some Motion Plus projects.

Some GOOD ones.

The peripheral is up to some balance board degree of sucsses. And is smaller and cheaper and much more versatility

Im dying to see some new Wii Motion Plus games. And i really really hope that Red Steel 2 sells 8 thousand bazillion copies.

These 3rd parties better not make me buy a Xbox with Natal. I really dont want a xbox.

I personally do not think that will be the result. After an initial rush of some offerings, the same pattern will probably emerge. That has always been the story for add-on controllers since the classic days. There were few games for the Atari 2600 Driving Controller or the Intellivoice or the many Colecovision Expansion Modules.

I am Mario.

I like to jump around, and would lead a fairly serene and aimless existence if it weren't for my friends always getting into trouble. I love to help out, even when it puts me at risk. I seem to make friends with people who just can't stay out of trouble.

I've always thought Sony and Microsoft have an 'upper hand' in some ways on this front, because they've got PSN and XBLA. Thus companies can experiment with the motion controller userbases with lower-budget downloadable games to start, and work from there. The nature of those games seems to better suit the device too.

No matter how good WM+ sells it always seemingly raises the question, why bother? It narrows your market to 10% the size. I know you can support WM+ and not make it an exclusive feature, but theres something about that which'll still put off any ignorant consumer.

These arguments seem at odds imo.  You talk about M+ narrowing userbase and thus discouraging support, after just talking about PSN/XBLA being attractive routes for experimentation (ie: a further narrowed userbase of an already narrowed userbase)?

Mind you Sony actually seems to be going this route (all but 1 of the officially announced PSmote games are PSN), but given their track record this gen, that may be a damning argument itself.  Microsoft at least seems to be going full tilt for retail with Natal.

We've already seen quite a few Eye exclusive games on PSN, which I guess is where I got the idea in my head lol. Developing a game for PSN or XBLA is a really low-budget method to test the userbase; I still don't fully 'get' Sony's plan with the Wand yet so I'm really just flirting with ideas of how the things ever going to sell. I think I'm more just saying the downloadable stations actually give developers a route to try make games for the wands, instead of making a full price game and risking a huge bomb.

I guess companies could try this with Wii Ware too, I'm not familiar with it's technical limitations and whatnot (The games are 64MB max?) but from the most the games I see on there it doesn't seem as practical, I can't honestly name 5 WiiWare games (I own a Wii) but I can name 10+ XBLA games (And I don't own a 360 lol) 0_o.

I'm still really not sure how Sony are going to treat the things anyway, could just be another Eye Toy all over. No third party makes a PS3 exclusive nowadays so there's no chance these thigns are going to get much support in terms of full retail releases - unless it's suitable games with motion 'support' (i.e. Command and Conquer, PS3 Tennis games etc).

Oh sure, it could be a (comparatively) low budget route to try it out, DSiWare versus DSi enhanced/only retail being a good comparison of what to expect maybe.  It just seems any arguments where userbase comes into the picture should immediately favor Motion+, which likely has over 10m units in the wild already... how long will it take the PSmote/eye or Natal to reach 10 million?  How many Motion+ units will already be out there when either releases? 20 million?  30 million?

noname, after all does WM+ really offer 1:1 or not?

If developers use it for that, yes. Resort is the best example, although you can also see it in Grand Slam Tennis (before the serve, you can rotate your Wiimote in various ways and the racket will move accordingly). During the match Grand Slam seems to switch to a different system though: it uses your speed, rough angle, and the amount of your follow through to determine where your return goes, but not in a truly 1:1 manner. I certainly have to slightly modify my swing when I play Grand Slam, anyways.

I dont know, i see the Motion+ not as an every day peripheral, but as a different thing>

Its cheap and small = affordable.

Contraire to the Balance Board, there´s A LOT of game genres that could benefit from it.

Heck, you dont even need to unplug it to play regular games!

Mandatory motion+ games would be pretty different than normal offerings, since the 1-on-1 recognition affects gameplay directly.

In the above sentence, diffrent means interesting, fun, new, innovative, i want this.

And alredy has a pretty good install base.

In the end, it all comes to the games and 3rd parties. Good games = sucsses. Bad games = failure. The amount of good games will determine how much usage the peripheral will see.

Where the heck is my motion+ flight game? Here we have the most obvious use ever for 1:1 controls, but as of yet no indication anyone is making one. I see sky crawlers (not 1:1 though) is coming here, but I'd prefer something like Pilotwings or Sky Odyssey where there is no combat.

For those of you wanting true 1:1 in a sports game, you need to really consider what you are asking for. If you have difficulty playing real tennis, don't expect to be the next virtual Andre Agassi using 1:1 controls.

Sega already stated they had to go with non-1:1 because it was simply too difficult to handle unless you had a solid background in the real game already and that wasn't the goal of the game. It's almost an arcade style tennis game, not a simulator.

It is not 1-on-1

You have to do your best to hit the ball as a real player, without the visual feedback.

The "spin your racquet and it will show up in real time" was a ridiculous PR talk. It dosent work.

The game is not fun (and the announcer sucks)

"Ghame phoint nhow"

I guess we just have different tastes. I'll grant that it's not really 1:1, but I found the game fun, and that Motion+ added a lot to the experience. I'd lump it in with the successes.

Same here. I think the learning curve has turned many off. Once you get passed that it's a joy. It's the first real effort for a 'lifelike' tennis game, it can only get better from here.

My neighbour still has the game. From time to time i have some thoughts about asking it again.

I found it dreadful back in the day. Hated the controls, hated the announcer, hated the game. Digged the graphics.

But you´re not the first one that i see saying that the controls are fine. Yet, the game didnt sold a lot...

MAYBe ill get it again for a second view on it. But for now (and for the general public), it was kind of a letdown.
