Forums - Sony - Anyone else disappointed by the ending? (Uncharted 2)

--OkeyDokey-- said:

I see that and raise you:

Nate (as Chloe climbs ladder): "It's a shame you have to sit on something so pretty".

--
Chloe (while hugging Nate): "Is that an ancient Tibetan ritual dagger in your pocket?"

--
Nate (while in swimming pool): :"Marco"
Chloe: "Really?"
Nate: "Come on"
Chloe (reluctantly): "Polo"
*Nate jumps out of pool*
Nate: "Fish out of water!"

Don't get me wrong, I loved the sexual innuendo between the two - but that's really where it began and ended for me.
Nate's relationsip with Elena was much deeper, especially having played the first game.

Also, that second example has nothing to do with Chloe, but with an awesome, awesome quirk by the developers .

I'd be surprised if there was a good ending....I can't remember the last time I played a good game with a good ending. It's like they purposely make them bad so there's always room for a sequel.

the scene where you're sliding down the mountain on the side of the building shooting at mercenaries all the while was insane. Running across the falling bridge in the end was also incredible.

You see stuff like that then it makes me think, "Why doesn't the main villian out of all things get some kinda epic battle?". It's like they got lazy - shoot the resin, repeat till dead. It's a pretty bad surprise considering how insanely awesome most action parts of the game are.

Anyways, I finished the game a few hours ago. I wasn't completely blown away but it was still awesome. I'm probably gonna redo it on hard with a new skin and the Next-Gen filter....I think it looks kinda cool .  I love how they added those bonus features. It's not often that devs add fun extras like that into their games anymore.

My only major complain about the game is the gunplay - it feels abit dull and repetitive at times. The guns just don't really have much of a beefy feel to them. They're not satisifying to use. Blindfire and shooting from the hip both feel abit weak, mainly because the camera doesn't shake as furiously as it does when you're aiming with L1. There's not much variety in guns either - I'm really damn tired of using the AK all the time along with the basic pistol.

Still a great game though, it'll probably be the only ps3 exclusive that I actually play often. I think it'll do MUCH better than KZ2. I bring that game up because it was hyped to death mainly for it's graphics and that's pretty much all it has going for it. U2's campaign is an awesome unique experience - you're put into so many different types of situations.

I loved it.

Shambala itself was amazing to look at, some of the best scenery in a game ever.
The Guardian's added a whole new challenge to the game.
The fights going on between the mercenaries and guardian's kept the warzone feeling going on from earlier in the game.
When Elena got injured, i wasn't sure what was going to happen so it added a lot of suspence.
The boss fight itself was the only let down i had...
Running across the breaking bridge was yet another amazing action scene, and following it up if the slide/shoot thing was amazing.

Ending movie itself was perfect, the dialogue between Drake + Elena was superb and we got more of Sully, which is always a good thing.

I enjoyed this end battle over the one in uncharted 1. After you defeat Lazarevic, it kept getting better.

I completely agree.

That said, everything up too and including that tank fight was pretty damn awesome.

I also wanted a more concrete stipulation of what's going to happen with Nate and Elena, as well as where Chloe will be off too now.

But yeah Shambala could have been awesome, but was ultimately disappointing. Maybe we were spoilt by things like the tank and the train?

I was so pissed that Nate chose Elena over Chloe!

The chemistry between Chloe and Nate was so much better. The game is at its best when they're together. I hope she returns in the sequel.

But yeah, the tank, the train and the chopper in Nepal are some of the most memorable moments in gaming history. I was expecting something even more incredible after those, but alas, nothing :(

I have to agree with Quickdraw, I'm very happy that Elena and Nate ended up together, as opposed to Nate and Chloe.

OT:

All in all, I was quite satisfied with the ending. The bossfight could have been better, but the guardians were a nice challenge when mixed with the soldiers. As long as you know how to deal with them, and don't just waste 100 of bullets trying to kill them anyway

But the ending cinematic, the bridge run... everything just came together so nicely for me, that the very few weak points I found could easily be forgiven.

And this has to be mentioned, but when you're fighting in that flooddrain (or whatever it is) with all the rain and thunder, that was quite awesome as well.

The train is probably my favorite part of the game though

EDIT: Also, I'm currently going through it on hard, with a treasure guide, and I plan on platting it quite soon

Then I'm gonna run around with my Marco Polo skin in multiplayer! This is one of the few multiplayer games that I actually like, and will most likely continue to come back to. Even though it is hellishly annoying to have people use the RPG, the grenade launcher and the Revenge-booster (the one that drops a live grenade when you die. Why does this thing keep appearing in games, despite being the worst thing to happen in gaming since ET on the ATARI 2600?)

EDITEDIT: I also really liked the truck chase to the monastary and the monastary it self

Finished the game last night..

One of the problems with the Uncharted series in general is that in grounding the series is somewhat realistic settings, you can't have a big Doom-Cyberdemon style boss fight at the end.  Even though Lazarevic was semi-immortal, it would have been lame to just shoot him a bunch.  The resin idea wasn't bad, although I think it would have been way cooler if they had factored the living tree into it.  I mean they showed that the roots could move and the tree crushing buildings in the end.  It would have been awesome if the tree had been actively fighting at the end (since you did light a fire under its ass).  So in a combination of gunfire and traversal, you escape the area while the tree rips Lazarevic apart or something.

I felt that the bridge scene and saving Chloe and the final dialog were all well done, but I was a little dissapointed that after having an awesome set up for the Cintemani stone, it ends up being a red herring and all of a sudden they're trying to bring closure to all the previous story elements (The stone is resin!, The black teeth are caused by eating the sap!  Which makes you go crazy!??)  Eh.

Like Lost, the setup is better than the pay-off.

Still, one of the best games I've ever played

Nah they just wanted to make the series open for another game....
But the ending is far more better than the first UC thats for sure xD

I'm about at the end. I just took on those bullet resistant sons of bitches in Shambala. I hate that this game is about to end. I only read the OP before posting, so I'm pretty much spoiler free. I'll come back here after I beat it.

I hate how im being so spoiled
