Forums - Gaming - Namco Dev EXPLAINS why TOV was a Timed 360 Exclusive (SHOCK)!

@S.T.A.G.E.

I agree completely. Its kinda sad really because 360 is such a great gaming system.

hey I think this article proves its NAmco if anyone who got caught in between!

All hail the KING, Andrespetmonkey

Actually IF this is real, this means the control Microsoft has gotten to stop Sony from soaring in sales is impressive.

By paying for a timed exclusive, even thought it's not going to sell, it destroys steam and momentum for the rival HD console, PS3, if the game was a simultaneous multi-platform or a PS3 exclusive. With this, Microsoft secures in a way that the sales of PS3 games (and PS3 hardware) does not soar.

The extra content Sony requires is the contingency, if the game has no extra content, it will not sell a lot. But Sony knows the damage has been done. I will move units, but not as much it was on the PS3 in the first place.

yeah but I dint click on the hentai links!

@dbot

we have used this site once or twice before on VGC for info

when it suits people ANY site seems to be "reliable"

when it doesn't why are sites suddenly "unreliable"

Same goes for game review sites

I'm not really questioning the site's reliability, the article doesn't contain the 5 w's of journalistic integrity (Who, What, When, Where, Why).  It has all the earmarks of a fake/BS story.  I don't really know what the site's reputation is.  I just know that the link looks familiar right before I click it, and then I see some strange pictures.

Thanks for the input, Jeff.

I want somebody to Xxplain to me why SONY are dickheads and assholes for demanding that developers add incentive to there year old late ports that want to re-release for full price??????

It's because its Sony and the PS3.

Seriously though... look at the 2 people who said the bolded, and you will see why they said it.

Seriously! How dare Sony not give money or make them put extra content.

I know! Those heartless bastards!

"SONY DID FORCE namco to put exclusive content in the PS3 version"

I am sure Sony didn't force Namco to put that MANY exclusive contents into the PS3 version. Namco wants hardcore Tales fans to re-buy this game.

With the X360 version sells at $29.99, who will want to pay the full price for PS3 version if both were identical? The hardcore Tales fans already played the X360 version and the rest of potential buyers wouldn't mind waiting for a little bit longer when the PS3 version gets cheaper.

Sony are dicks blackmailing devs like that. I don't believe Nintendo does that and Microsoft certainly doesn't.

Oh please. Because you know what happens behind closed doors? How do you know this article is even true? Just because this "article" claims to say Sony "blackmails" automatically means it only happens with Sony? And not Microsoft or Nintendo? How do you know that, i'm curious.

Seems late ports get extra content on on the PS3 but not necessarily on the Wii or 360. They're not dicks though. It provides an incentive for people who already bought it to buy it again for extra stuff. Hard on the dev but still smart IMO.

Also I think if they released the game simultaneously, 360 sales would have suffered and it seems PS3 ToV sales really aren't so it's not so bad. Plus then there wouldn't be extra stuff!

 I know of one recent late port that getting extra content ,  both 360 & Ps3 Williams Pinball Collection is getting 3 extra tables that's not in last years Wii version. So even a late ported pinball game gets extra content. I don't really see this a unreasonable request.

 Guess what ? I'll probably ended up buying this game again on the PS3 so I can  get the 3 extra tables and playing it on HD .
