Forums - Sony - Valve has no plans working on the PS3.

Why does this same old Valve stuff keep making headlines. Valve never released a single game for PSX and PS2 which are considered by 99% of the sane to be hugely successful consoles. This whole idea that Valve makes or breaks a system has never made any sense to me. Let Valve do what they want and lets discuss something else please. I guess the gaming news has been boring lately.

I'm not exactly sure why anyone would buy a ps3 with valve games in mind because I never even heard of them till the Orange box's suckiness on ps3 made headlines (Yes, I've never played a game on PC, not even solitaire).

How about there be a new rule...no more ASKING Gabe Newell about PS3...this is getting to be riddiculous...why don't we get them asking PS3 3rd developers about their multi-plat plans...why...nobody wants to play their games?

Because clearly, Sony's deal with Insomniac, Sucker Punch etc. is contractual. Valve has no deal with Microsoft, they just don't want to waste resources for little gain. This can be interpreted as laziness, and in a way, it is. They would certainly profit on a PS3 version, right?

Companies have the freedom to choose whether and how they make a profit. Valve was never essential to the sucess of the ps3...not even close. We can stop using the words "valve" and "ps3" in the same sentence now.

They certainly could, but that's not the primary issue.  Judging by their actions Valve believes that they can make more profit by taking the same development resources that would have gone to PS3 ports, and applying it toward development of more PC/360 projects.  Where making some profit is good, making more profit is better.  ROI is more important than simply turning a profit.

Now, whether or not they actually do make more profit this way we'll never know, but they are making calculated business decisions, not just trying to spite ps3 owners.

Do you have a link?  Because the CEO of Insomniac was in Game Informer last year, and he said they were not, they jsut were busy working on the ps3...same darn thing Gabe is saying, but as usual, you get the double standard, where nobody makes a fuss, or EVEN questions those guys, but Valve get the same darn question in every interview...STOP ASKING!

No offense to Insomniac, but they aren't in Valve's league of game dev. I would assume that is why no one really cares. Now if someone like BioWare, Blizzard or Bethesda said such a thing but for the PS3's or 360's side, people would have made a fuss over it, rightly so too.

By now we can agree that that is pretty subjective.

Subjectively, commercially, and critically.
