Dunno if this thread has been done before but I'm interested in knowing how people played through this game.

I prefer my D&D in 3rd person myself. Nearly every promo screenshot I've seen is in the 1st person mode, so it seems they were promoting its 1st person experience. In fact I wasn't going to get it until someone said you have the option of either FP or TP.

I prefer in first person.

I did both. Third for fighting and first for exploring. I think it's pretty much just preference.

I switched between them.

for magic and arrows i use first person.
for swords (since my character is a theif) i use third person, my character relies on speed rather than shield and heavy armor.

You never play a Bethesda game in third person. It's never good and looks like you're sliding on the floor when you walk. They only put it in so you can take screenshots on the PC of your character or something.

Exactly. 3rd person view is horribly executed, but also not needed for Bethesda games.

Third person for the most part, first person when I am picking something up, firing arrows/ranged spells, or I generally need accurate aim.

I haven't played Oblivion in ages

The problem with it was that you could be EVERYTHING in one playthrough. A thief, warrior and mage, in the Fighter's Guild, Dark Brotherhood, Mage's Guild and Thieves' Guild, complete the main quest while going on killing sprees around all of the major cities...it just gave you too much freedom.

I like going into 3rd person for when im travelling through the towns, but when im fully exploring or fighting, FP all the way.
