Forums - Sony - Tale of Vesperia PS3 has inferior graphic

I pulled the full-res versions up in side by side windows. Other than a tiny loss of sharpness in the PS3 image, and the fact that one scene looks like nighttime while the other looks like daytime, I can't really see a lot of difference. I'm guessing that playing the game with animation instead of just looking at stills is going to produce a fairly similar experience. It is odd that the PS3 version is that weird resolution, though.

Well i played the demo on my 1080p 40" LCD TV and it looks great!

I don't know why people are complaining about pointless numbers, 'oooh game A on console B runs at 0.2 of a fps slower than on console C' does it really matter? Isn't it about enjoying the games and not becoming obsessed with technical stuff...

Small difference anyway...

It is very small, honestly, but it is noticable on a relatively small TV, unlike most resolution differences. 720p, to 1080p(or 1080i) is indistinguishable to the human eye, unless you are setting with 5 feet of a 52 inch television. If you think you can tell the difference, you really can't. It's all about your perception that you are watching the best, and in reality there is no difference whatsoever. That's why 1080p is completely unnecessary for most gamers. Unless you have a 70 inch television and excellent vision, you can't tell the difference between 1080p and 720p, and for 1080i, you will only be able to distinguish the difference during motion blurring.

Also, most things don't produce a 1080p signal. Most satellites/cable networks only go up to 1080i/720p, and pretty much only DD and Blu-Ray allow for 1080p, which you  can't distinguish anyway(most people have 42 inch HDs, so the difference is indistinguishable to the human eye).

In fact, there is NO reason to EVER buy a television under 52 inches, that is over 720p, ever. You are wasting your money. Period.

I don't know which stores you shop at, but I can't find any 40"+ HDTV sets that are 720p without also having 1080i/p these days.  So I don't see how buying a less than 52" HDTV that has 1080p is wasting money when cheaper 720p-only sets in the 40"+ size range don't seem to exist.

Other than this quirky statement, I agree entirely with your post.

"Some related trivia: the only other sub-HD game we've come across that employs a 1280x576 resolution would be PS3 Soul Calibur IV, and even then, only when the game is forced to run in the 1080i/p compatibility mode (that is, with 720p disabled on the XMB), otherwise it is proper 1280x720."

This is very interesting to say the least, perhaps the retail version will end up being like Soul Calibur IV...I suppose will know for sure once the game is released and tested.

All I know is that the demo will certainly do a disservice to the game and will certainly not go down well, but hopefully the reaction will be a wake up call to the devs, after all SC4 turned out good, so there should really be no issue since they already have experience....but then again it could always be a cheap dirty port.

I dont understand, when there is a PS3 game that is superior to its 360 counter part eurogamer doesn't compare it? Oh wait I forgot they said the industry would be nowhere without mcirosoft the only hardcore gaming company.

You know I dont trust this comparison or any review eurogamer does.

Oh, well, I actually think that any TV that is 720p, is also capable of 1080i, since 1080i is actually an inferior picture.

As for which stores I shop at, I shop online, and I've never seen a 720p tv that couldn't also produce the lesser 1080i picture.

As for which TVs are available cheaper in the 40+ range,  this TV is half the price of almost any 1080p TV, and completely equal in every way, no one in the world, could tell the difference with the human eye, and again, it is less than half the price of the same TV in 1080p:

As a matter of fact, yes, most large screen TVs are available in a much, much cheaper 720p version, and anything that is 1080p under 52 inches, is a complete waste of money imo.

I don't need your console war.
It feeds the rich while it buries the poor.
You're power hungry, spinnin' stories, and bein' graphics whores.
I don't need your console war.

NO NO, NO NO NO.

In my opinion, comparisons should only be made when the ps3 version is superior because 360 versions being superior are now so common, the impact has been lost. Ps3 superiority is so few and far between I think it would be bigger news although with that said, if the 360 version is so superior it's game breaking then it does deserve attention, however pretty much every comparison is so minimal it just seems a waste of time.

PS One/2/p/3slim/Vita owner. I survived the Apocalyps3/Collaps3 and all I got was this lousy signature.

I agree, plus the extra content makes up for this anyways for me. Still a definate purchase.

Quoted as people seem to be skiping this little bit of interesting info.
