disolitude, was the mother fat?

Are you saying all misinformed people are fat?

Because I'll go with that otherwise how do you explain how they don't know what a sensible portion is and keep falling for all those fad diets.

No, you got it wrong, I asked if she was fat because there's an even bigger chance she was buying it for wii fit.

I know you was.

I've seen this happen quite a bit.

Kid goes into the shop, wants a PS3/360

Mum says no, you can have a Wii.

Even if the store person says like... "360 is a better console, has better games, online play..." etc. The mum still insists on the Wii.

^ I dont think its fair to call him a brat cause hes complaining.

He has the right to want the system he likes... Plus mom was trying to make it like it was a democracy. She wasn't saying "Im buying you a wii"...but instead "Wii is the best, lets get that one".

If mom took me shopping when I was a kid and she said "Lets get that Atari Jaguar"...I'd be screaming too.

I would argue that that is a slightly different scenario

I sorta agree the kid is a bratt, but I also sorta agree that the mom could have handled things better.

The way I see it, if the kid is old enough to want a 360, and know the difference between the two consoles, then he is old enough to start saving his allowance. I was only 11 years old when I bought my first video game console out of saving chump change.

Although it is quite redicolous that the mom didn't let him have what he wants, especially with the fact that 360 is cheaper.

The chick probably just wanted WiiFit for herself.

Just how much allowence did you get as a kid?

If the kid is getting enough money that he can buy one by saving money for a few months then yeah he should save for it but then if his parent's are giving him that much money then why not just buy it for him.

I never got that much pocket money as a kid so I had to save it to buy games and I would get the console as a present.

When I got my megadrive it was a christmas present and I went to the shop with her to get it, maybe thats whats happening here. It's a gift for him and not just something she's bought him whilst shopping on Saturday.

Maybe I'm just old but kids these days have way to much. Loads of pocket money and then whatever they want bought for them on top of that, mobile phones, TV's in the bedrooms with computers and multiple consoles.

Some of this is jealousy and resentment at my poor parents who like to remind me that all they had as children was a stick and a hoop.

I used to get $5 a day to buy lunch. I spent quite a few lunchtimes hungry as you might think. You also gotta remember Christmas money and the likes. When I do have children, they will never have a console bought for them by me. I'll give them money and if they want it they can save.

Poor kid, but he isn't the one buying it so it's her choice. Unless it was his birthday present lol then it should be his choice. Still, mother knows best. I'm pretty sure she didn't think the Wii was more powerful but had other motives to get a Wii (Wii Fit, more kid friendly). If I was the store clerk I would have probably done the same, it is her kid so you just agree with what they say.
