NoA isn't actually given that kind of authority, decisions like that are generally made in Japan, with some input from NoA about cultural differences etc. That's according to the interview on IGN with Denise Kaigler.

1. Reggie has little influence on any hardware design.

2. He said "GTA" not GTA4 you tool.... there is only 1 GTA game the Wii would not be able to run... Rockstar seemed perfectly fine developing non-main titles for DS, PSP (and porting them to PS2)... the Wii is more powerful, and easier to develop for than the PS2.... they could easily make a ground up title for it just as they hav done with the handhelds. Sure it would not sell as much as the HD ones or the PS2 ones... but that is because a fanbase has never been able to grow on a Nintendo console before.... if they make a ground up title for the Wii now, and then another one later in the gen.... then the following one on the next Nintendo console could easily compete with GTA on other consoles.... just like the X360 version is now competeing with PS3 even though the Xbox sales of it's GTA ports sucked in comparison to PS2.

Looks like I pwned myself with this one. For some reason, I interpreted his month as a week lol. No wonder the flames came burning full throttle!

 

His demands for 3rd party software without offering support to devs is still quite arrogant though. Nintendo significant money off HW sales unlike sony or M$ so faking altruistic motives for other devs doesn't fall through. their high base has also failed to move mountains for many 3rd parties who actually put good faith into their wii works. They don't need GTA anyways.

Looks like nintendo doesn't have any plans to take back Japan as of the moment or perhaps even Reggie doesn't know.

I'd like another GTA like the DS one, only with much more freedom. Able to go everywhere, inside most of the buildings (some can be closed). Have more than one city which you can fly to and from.

I see...  So when Reggie makes one of his "promises" he's just talking out of his ass since all the big decisions, even about which games NoA publishes, are made in Japan.

GTA: Los Santos Wars, even though it's still all of San Andreas from the top down.

At least that's what I'd like. And with larger DS carts (hopefully coming soon), it's possible.



A flashy-first game is awesome when it comes out. A great-first game is awesome forever.
