oh trestres...you never learn huh?
@bobbuffalo: I learned the hard way. These are valid complaints, not irrational talk like what I did previously. If you read what I post you should see that what I say is true about NoA. I'm not blaming Nintendo at all, just their subsidiary at America.
@Sky Render: I wouldn't be upset if everyone should have to wait, but as of now it's only NoA who are making us wait. NoE and NCL are correctly doing their jobs.

Bets with Conegamer:
Pandora's Tower will have an opening week of less than 37k in Japan. (Won!)
Pandora's Tower will sell less than 100k lifetime in Japan.
Stakes: 1 week of avatar control for each one.
Europe and especially Japan are also not experiencing anywhere near the growth that America is in the Wii market. Though Europe comes closer to the American market's rapid growth than Japan does, obviously. Since it does no good to complain, it's best to just not let it bug you, tricky though that can be. Look at it from a simple matrix: your complaining does not influence change or lack thereof, so you may as well not complain, as it takes less effort and gets the same results. Harsh? Yes, but that's logic for you...

@trestres - thing is that you call them idiots just because they are not doing what you "think" they should do. Hey I won't lie, sometimes I get exasperated for the way Nintendo works but if something we have learned is that Nintendo doesn't act like the other companies. What are their plans? why they don't release X or Y game? Nobody knows. Neither you. And at this point everybody should know that with Nintendo we should expect the unexpected.
Wii owners in America only buy games like Wii Fit, Wii music, and Wii Sports. Why would NoA release any other games if Americans like mini fun party games? The hardcore gamer is now extinct. It's time to change our tastes in games now.
| Sky Render said: I hate to have to point this out, but there's a reason why companies like Working Designs and Atlus either no longer exist or are rapidly failing: the products they bring out are so niche that the sales don't cover the costs of localizing them (particularly in the case of Working Designs, who took over-localization to such an extreme that they introduced $60 games a good 10 years before it was the norm). While you may have some idealistic point of view that profits don't matter as long as gamers get the games they want, unless you intend to fail, profits are necessary for a business to survive. But, you say, surely Nintendo can afford to take a small loss and release a few niche titles here that won't make them a profit! While that's true, there's two reasons they will not: one, that goes against their corporate policy entirely, and two, the slippery slope effect caused by such lenience could destroy them in the long run. Nintendo has never worked under the model of pandering to the fans, though they put up an excellent front. They pander to the customer base at large, not just the most vocal ones. And letting a few projects slip in specifically targeting a niche audience and assured to not earn back the cost of making and/or localizing them sets a precedent for such bad business in the future. |
actually the reason WD went under was because they localized a game for the PS2 and Sony told them they couldn't publish it here in the states. The finacial strain was to much and they had to close down shop.
That's kind of troubling, that their finances were so ill-prepared for that possibility that it took only one critically unsuccessful project to sink them...

wow.. working designs...they used to localize very good games. But yeah, you can't survive with only niche games. One must diversify. I hope that Platinum games learn that.
