I'm sorry but before that Japan didn't have strong releases either and still the WII was selling at a range of 60-70.000 per week. The drop is kind of a worry, especially as there "won't" be any interesting titles for the Japanese to release until October.

Well, from the numbers I see there was a boost in the Dragon Sword week, then a slow decline. Then there was a boost in the Mario Party week, and it's declining since. Not too unusual.

Again, what's the next release in Japan? Does enybody know? Thx.

PLAYSTATION®3 is the future.....NOW.......B_E_L_I_E_V_E

Supporter of PlayStation and Nintendo

There's still no good measurement for how high demand still is for the Wii.

I have only ever saw one console on a store shelf, in the US still, and it was in the middle of being sold. I'm still in the market for one, just like a lot of my friends.

If you sell out a console, no matter what the area, it doesn't necessarily mean you're losing base support. It could be that simple answer of less being available - and a few people hit it right on, worldwide sales are up.

Numbers: Checker Players > Halo Players

Checkers Age and replayability > Halo Age and replayability

Therefore, Checkers > Halo

So, Checkers is a better game than Halo.

Care to put that into prediction form...with dates and expectations?

The Wii isn't even supply constrained in 2/3's of the world (Europe, Japan) at this point.

Social trends go in and out in Japan very efficiently. We'll need to wait a couple of weeks to see what happens. I didn't expect sales to drop this quickly.

QFT.  I'm not an expert on Japanese culture by any means, but my wife, who happens to be Japanese, is.  This is something that seems quite unique to Japanese cultur in that a "new thing", "fad", or whatever you want to call it, will come fast and furious and EVERYONE jumps on board.  That same "thing" could just as easily exit the market due to complete lack of public interest in very short order.  It's such a homogenous society... It really is amazing.

As an example, you can look at the "drink" market.  New "gatorade-like" drinks come and go regulary.  Yes, there are a few staples, but the idea of "coke" and "pepsi" sharing the majority of the cola market, for instance is crazy talk.  There are many, many brands that come, catch a feverish public interest, and go just as quick never to be seen again.

I'm not saying this is happening to the Wii but it wouldn't be good if the "collective" mentally moves on from the Wii to something else...

I hate trolls.

Systems I currently own:  360, PS3, Wii, DS Lite (2)
Systems I've owned: PS2, PS1, Dreamcast, Saturn, 3DO, Genesis, Gamecube, N64, SNES, NES, GBA, GB, C64, Amiga, Atari 2600 and 5200, Sega Game Gear, Vectrex, Intellivision, Pong.  Yes, Pong.

Thanks for the numbers. I see DDR in october. Didn't know that it's already that near. DDR should have some ipact, especially in japan. If now are Wii on the shelves, they will disappear with this release, I'm sure.

You should be a financial analyst, with rock solid predictions like this and well thought out, rational arguments to back them up there'd be no stopping you.

You have to be a special kind of fanboy to fortell the demise of the best selling console in VG history.

I only hope you were joking.

P.S. Please tell us more about how badly MPC bombed , it really is good stuff!

Ordinarily, when I hear a comment like this I can see the obvious sarcasm. But in this case I don't think he is joking.
