Social trends go in and out in Japan very efficiently. We'll need to wait a couple of weeks to see what happens. I didn't expect sales to drop this quickly.

QFT.  I'm not an expert on Japanese culture by any means, but my wife, who happens to be Japanese, is.  This is something that seems quite unique to Japanese cultur in that a "new thing", "fad", or whatever you want to call it, will come fast and furious and EVERYONE jumps on board.  That same "thing" could just as easily exit the market due to complete lack of public interest in very short order.  It's such a homogenous society... It really is amazing.

As an example, you can look at the "drink" market.  New "gatorade-like" drinks come and go regulary.  Yes, there are a few staples, but the idea of "coke" and "pepsi" sharing the majority of the cola market, for instance is crazy talk.  There are many, many brands that come, catch a feverish public interest, and go just as quick never to be seen again.

I'm not saying this is happening to the Wii but it wouldn't be good if the "collective" mentally moves on from the Wii to something else...

I hate trolls.
