if SONY can get Dark Knight Blu-Ray budled with PS3....they should say HI to GREAT SALES

If I'm not mistaken Dark Knight is now the BIGGEST SUCCESS in NA behind Titanic!

If 360 hadn't cut the price, I would probably have gotten a PS3 for $400 if it had BC and Dark Knight Bundle. LBP bundle w/ DK would make it definate.

Problem is the PS3 is already losing money. So a drop just makes the losses worse. Now maybe with a good economy they could obsorb that and lessen the pain by other products still doing well. With this economy that is a huge risk. You accelerate sales of a product losing money and you got to believe that products like TVs are going to sell worse than they expected a few months ago.

Its libraries that sell systems not a single game.

No, console sales (especially including the US) say that the PS3 is getting its arse handed to it on a plate.

and we know that manufacturing the thng wont be 400 until jan 09 or thats what sony has said, so look to march for your price drop

"We" know ?? Who is we? And give a quote for "what Sony has said".

And for your information: the manufacturing costs of the PS3 have been in the $350 region for quite some time now. And Sony has no reason to drop the price at this time. They planned to sell 10 Mio unit this fiscal year and are well within this plan (actually it would mean a sizable manufacturing cost increase if they suddenly were in the 13-15Mio region..)

First off, the economy isn't as bad across the entire US as the media likes pretend, because if it isn't on the east coast or California they usually don't care. Some of the "poor, rural" states are still strong right now because their economies are based off of things that have a steady demand, like a thing called food. The AP had an article about it if you are interested.

But Sony only posted a small profit last quarter and they are still down 3.3 billion since the launch of the ps3 and they are willing to take a chance this Christmas if need be to make some of that money back.

the coasts are the hardist hit in particular cali, and florida. southern boarder states, and most other southern states outside of louisiana and florida are doing fine.

The only place that Sony really messed up with the PS3 was the price. Had it come out at $300-$400, then the loss of exclusives and the 360 head start wouldn't have mattered in the slightest. As long as the PS4 launches at a reasonable price, they'll be fine.

Not quite. The whole way how the Cell was used was a big mistake. So the big move to Multiplattform Games would have happened anyway. The main problem is that the development costs are so high that it is simply cheaper to bridge the differences, then to specialize.

The PS2 architecture was considered a nightmare by programmers. Some might even say that it was worse than the PS3, so that wasn't the reason they went multiplatform. That can be blamed on the PS3's high launch price and subsequent poor sales as developers knew that they wouldn't be able to sell enough games had they remained exclusive to the PS3.

Even if what you're saying were true, the loss of exclusives wouldn't have mattered had the PS3 been reasonably priced. Sony also lost exclusivity on games during the PS1 era and it didn't seem to hinder the PS2 very much. Like I said, a better price for the PS3 would have lead to much better sales as far more PS2 owners would have upgraded. The Wii might even still be ahead, but the 360 would most likely be in third place right now.
